High 3* (.8843) RB Damir Collins committed to Oregon State. He's a short, thickly-built RB who has all the tools to be successful at the Pac-12 level with speed, balance, vision, and shiftiness. Solid get for the Beavers.

Also committing was low 4* (.8956) Nathan Rawlins-Kibonge, who was previously committed to Wazzu as a basketball player. Football programs love his size at 6'7, 240. Right now he's just a big body and raw talent; high risk, high potential for suitors. I'll be curious to see how big of a jump he makes between his Jr and Sr years. Noteworthy is that uw thought they had a chance here, though Stanford probably would have been the pick if he stayed on the west coast.
I hope Nathan Rawlins-Kibonge isn't one we let get away.

Do you mean because of mobility, or something else?

Oregon's in a tight spot, in my opinion. The best young thrower on the roster is Jay Butterfield, who is pretty immobile. Robby Ashford is the most athletic, but is not a college level passer at this point. Cale Millen seems to be some mix of both. They don't really have a guy who's an ideal fit for the offense and who is also a great passer on the roster.

From what I've seen from Jonathan Smiths offense, Vidlak's games matches what he wants in a QB. While I don't know what we're going to see in our new offense, I do know we have amplified our recruiting level and that for Vidlak, it's probably more likely that he starts for 2-3 years in Corvallis than Eugene from the competition he will face.

So much less about whether he's good enough for us and more about what's best for him. We may not even get a chance to see what our new offense even looks like with everything going on.

Looks like Washington will be getting a commit from this kid: https://247sports.com/Player/Maurice-Heims-46083192/

Some fun facts:

* 18 year old HS junior.

* Played JV football last year, because he's an international transfer from Germany that didn't get enrolled in time.

I'm loving how Jimmy Lake and his crappy hires are recruiting. Maybe hiring one too many DB coaches, keeping Pete's worst recruiters, promoting a TE assistant, and then hiring a failed OC who was working as a gopher in the NFL weren't the best choices. Just the best timeline.

That, and getting a Big Sky QB transfer (a 26 year old one on top of that) is making it look like the accelerated end of the Helfrich tenure but without the past success.

A lot of posters on UWDawgPound think they will flip a ton of guys once campus visits are allowed. However, who knows if visits will happen this cycle and why would you feel good about your chances when you're constantly playing catch-up to the other guys? Some other posters are very worried about that coaching staff and feel like this iteration of Husky Football is on the downslope.

The "we're going to flip everyone" strategy is a bold one, lets see how it pays off. This is just their sunshine pumpers and mods trying to give them hope. Lake and his staff have no idea what they're doing. Pete was really the engine of that operation.

I would've thought that recruiting would've continued to perform at recent average. Lake was Peterson's best recruiter, and the staff (including Lake) should've had plenty of time to learn what made Pete successful.

Maybe their failings on the recruiting trail are because they're on the downswing overall, and would've happened with or without Peterson?

I tend to agree. Even posters on Hardcore Husky are recognizing that the Duck coaches are outworking UWs on the trail and think this class is a lost cause.

Does the unrest / anarchy in Seattle impact recruiting? Strange to ask but safety of someone’s child must be questioned... right?

Highly doubt it. The south is known for racism, yet they out-recruit everyone. Point being, I don't think social issues/events have any bearing on recruiting.

One of our new recruiting coordinators used to coach him, so we weren’t allowed to recruit him even if we wanted to.

It looks like Washington found a true diamond in the rough. The kid doesn't even have a 247 rating

Washington looks to be his only offer

What a dumpster fire. They offered a much better in-state DT (Jacob Schuster, who is a 4* in 247's own rankings not the composite) but they offered him a gray shirt. The next week he got full ride offers from Stanford and Cal.

Instead they took a kid with no FBS offers. I'm loving this, Jimmy Lake is going to tank Washington way faster than I thought.

Shough should be pretty good.

Ty Thompson is coming.
