Not sure where to put this. I am curious if JT is signing on the late period or early period. If the early period I would guess the ducks are out of it. The way the ducks been playing I think we will lose more and have them flip. We have lost 2 already and not had anyone flip to us.

I don't like Balfour as much as Covington, but looks like that's who Chance is prioritizing. He's still solid, but looks like he has limited speed and athleticism.

JTT is signing in the late period, that was always his plan. No one really knows what’s going on for sure with his recruitment because he and his family don’t give too many interviews. Odds are that it’s still Ohio State and we get a hat on the table.

I would say this quite strongly, very rarely do current results have a major impact on recruiting. Yes, sometimes a big season can flip a guy or 2 or a bad season can lose a guy or two, but most of these kids are committing based on the program as a whole and the relationships they've built with coaches and other players.

If there's coaching changes? Sure. A couple of losses? Not so much, fan overreaction.

If anything, Covid-19 and not having visits is going to hurt us more than anything else. We do a great jobs once kids visit historically.

I agree about Big Joe and recruiting.

He's behind the rest of the staff on that standard. To be fair, it's really hard to find those kids on the west coast these days, but 2021 was a good class for it and we still haven't landed more than the 1 Cali kid.

His banner was development(did a great job with guys like Carlberg and at Wazzu with Mataafa), but that seemed to wane this year too.

He was not a great recruiter @ WSU either, so from the beginning Mario must have planned to have others cover for him in that regard.

Honestly, I'm inclined to believe it. Maybe that's because I don't think super highly of him relative to the rest of our class, but something just tells me that they think the spot might be better used elsewhere.

Burkhalter I had called as a potential flip, and I’m not too upset about it.

TE Moliki Matavao is considering a flip to Washington or UCLA. I’ve always preferred Terrence Ferguson, but losing him just on principle would suck.

Jaylon Davies to maybe USC is Arizona State. Heyward and Chance need to not lose this one.

Matavao has awesome athleticism, but not terribly great football skills. Ferguson is definitely the better receiving threat. I wouldn't be broken up to lose Matavao but I'd prefer to get him in the program and see how he develops.

At this point I have three wishes in addition to keeping the guys we expect to keep:

* Keep Davies or get an equal or better replacement like Ceyair Wright.

* Get JTT and/or Ika.

* Keep spots open for transfers for DB, DL, or wherever they need more depth.
