It was pretty early in the process, but many said that Oregon led for Nico before he committed to Tenn. It's hard to tell, however, who was the priority then. It's definitely Moore now though.

I think it's eventually going to come out of coaching salaries. No reason to pay for an elite recruiter when you are biding on recruits.

Schools aren’t paying it, Donors are. I doubt coaches lose a dime over this. That said, when big money donors don’t see these kids playing the way they thought they would, they might rethink spending the $$$ on unproven HS kids. Pay a proven kid like a Vernon Adams, or a Cooper Kupp, and get him to your school. The Boise St and Cincinnati of the world, won’t be winning big as much anymore.

I think in 2-4 years we'll see the amount of money spent by these collectives go down as the return on investment dwindles.

Completely agree!

As for Ruiz, not a fan...his spac is as honest and transparent as CMC's exit from Oregon.

The money will continue to be spent, but you won't see it given to high school recruits. This year's transfer portal was a good indicator of what we'll see in the future. Big name transfers going to schools with boosters willing to pay big money

This is really making the game less fun, tbh. Happy for the players, their families, etc. Just sort of makes the game less enjoyable.

I know what you mean and 100% agree. That said, it's already been happening for a few decades now, at least to some degree.

A couple things, guys have always been paid. And second thing, these numbers being thrown around aren’t the right numbers. I’ve been told it’s the lawyer for Nico and others, who is floating these numbers to get more clients. They are getting really good money, but no 8-9mill.

Understood. I think the combination of money, Hudl, national recruiting, and transfer portal that just simply has divided the haves and have nots more than ever, which reduces my interest. Further, the epicenter of the sport continues to shift east and south. Just makes me care a whole lot less.

I'm just happy to be an Oregon fan right now. At least we have the means to compete in this new era of football.

Hopefully, at some point, the NCAA makes some rules to get things under control a bit. Players can still get paid (big money, too) without college football turning into a nonsensical free-for-all. The sport definitely needs a good long-term business model and audience satisfaction must be a factor.
