Really hope Oregon can land him, especially after losing out on Pickett and Offord re-affirming his commitment to Ohio St on twitter. I know they’re CB’s and he’s a safety but does seem like we’re a little short on secondary recruits right now.

He sounds far from a heavy oregon lean and the postponement of announcement due to issues to relatives’ flights excuse has less substance now, unfortunately…greenyellow wrote: Wed Jul 24, 2024 11:05 am McNutt will be visiting both Texas A&M and Oregon this week.

Feels like Oregon is being used by a lot of players to get better deals elsewhere

Except for the guys who are committed to Oregon, who have helped form the highest star rating in the nation right now.bellsduck wrote: Fri Jul 26, 2024 3:15 pm Feels like Oregon is being used by a lot of players to get better deals elsewhere
But yes, you're right. Players are using Oregon, just like the use other elite teams to get the best deal they can. NIL.

Hope he gets to talk to Evan Stewart about the relative merits of the two schools.

My point is that Oregon's safeties since Neal's departure have largely been below average in the Pac-12, with 3 individual exceptions - Holland, McKinley, and Breeze. Considering most of the Pac-12 recruits almost exclusively the west coast and Oregon could snatch recruits from those other schools, it implies that Oregon might be doing itself a disservice by not paying enough attention to the region and would benefit by scouting deeper rather than wider. It's not lost on my that 2 of the 3 exceptions I mentioned are from Oregon and California.OregonFan4Life wrote: Thu Jul 18, 2024 2:03 pmIs that your way of saying McNutt isn’t stellar? Legit question.StevensTechU wrote: Thu Jul 18, 2024 12:53 pmThe west coast has 6'1, 190 pound athletes in droves. John Neal was a modest recruiter but fantastic scout. Star chasing has killed our DB units generally for quite a while.UOducksTK1 wrote: Thu Jul 18, 2024 10:48 am https://247sports.com/player/trey-mcnutt-46133808/
Should be green and yellow, would be a massive pickup for us. One position we've struggled to recruit at an elite level is safety, so hopefully McNutt is the beginning of many more elite safeties to follow.
I’d argue Breeze was only good for half a year. And wasn’t Ugo after Neal’s departure?

I watched some highlights, holy smokes that kid is fast! I’m guessing he’ll probably play free safety (though he might be a tiny bit short) but could easily play strong safety too! He’s a very dynamic athlete.

Re: Top S McNutt deciding Saturday Aug 3rd Edit: QUACK!
Watching his Jr year HUDL highlights I didn't see much that screams Free Safety but SS/Box Safety. Of course there's still a lot of time for him to develop his coverage skills, but right now where he stands out the most on tape is his run-stopping from the back end, recognizing plays and reacting quickly followed by putting him at press corner to be physical with a team's top wr.OregonFan4Life wrote: Sun Aug 04, 2024 8:15 am I watched some highlights, holy smokes that kid is fast!
