And that's my whole issue with the minority rule. UO liked Tubby, but he doesn't want to come to UO, so now they have to interview a guy they know they aren't going to hire? That's waste the UO's time, and it's basically a slap in the face for whoever is the token interview.

Really they don't have to do anything. Yes it is a state law to at least interview a minority candidate, but there is no punishment or repercussion for not. People will basically say "Hey, don't do that."

True. But that would seem a little funny since Bellotti was a vocal supporter of the enactment of the law.

I'm a white male, worked all my life, pay my taxes and have never been arrested. Doesn't that make me a minority???

When I applied to the Sheriff's dept. to become a deputy, I was 46, which under government hiring regulations is a "Protected" Classification, and was actually treated as minority status... Obviously, that fits the spirit of the law, rather than the letter.

It should be noted that 'minority status' doesn't just mean "black", although that appears to be the way media people choose to interpret things.

Im 6'1" 280 and have reddish blond hair. I also am married to my high school sweet heart. we have been together 10 years. Never been divorced.
I think having reddish blond hair and still being married to my 1st wife makes me more of a minority than any minority!!!

I'm 5'10/240/bald... The only thing besides my age that makes me a bigger minority than any of you is probably the fact that I will have been married for 36 years to the same woman in June... My in-laws have been together since 1950, and my Dad and step-mom since 1955... Plus they are all still alive, which means my grandchildren have both sets of grandparents and 2 sets of great grandparents. (Since nobody in the family documented the native american heritage in our background, the only thing that would prove the connection there would be a DNA test.)

Too bad I'm totally unqualified to coach basketball!

just make them watch pistol pete before every game. You cant lose after you watch that movie. Well it worked when I was a kid anyway!

Actually, I read earlier today that Few was very happy at Gonzaga and he was leaning toward staying there. One of his friends said he'd be "shocked" if he left for Oregon. I can't find the link now though. Sorry.

Honestly, I hope it's true. I don't think Mark Few is the answer.

Right now I would say Few is more than likely going to stay at Gonzaga since it's almost guaranteed a spot in the NCAA Tournament every year.

Yep. He may be very worried about leaving a good thing and I don't blame him. Dan Monson failed at Minnesota after leaving Gonzaga and he's the one that established that program.

Few might be able to retire there, who knows? He certainly won't face the pressure there like he would at Oregon. If he came to Oregon and failed, his reputation would never be the same. People would say that his success was built on what Monson did and he isn't good enough to be successful in a major conference.

Honestly, I couldn't blame him if he wanted to stay put. His wife and kids are said to be very happy and he's in a good situation, not a Pac-10 pressure cooker.

There's something to be said for a stress free or low stress work environment. It's not always about the money. Look at Chris Petersen at Boise State. He could have bailed a long time ago, but he's not stupid. He's got a great situation and he knows it.

Look at what happened to Urban Meyer at Florida recently and ask yourself why Few might want to stay put.

i agree with super duck on Few. why leave a non pressure situation?
i dont know much about him personally. the only reason i can see
him leaving for oregon is ego. Does he think that if he can do it at a
school like Gonzaga can he do it at a pac 10 school. i really dont think
its gonna be him. i know oregon wants to make a big splash. but who is
going to leave sound programs for oregon? Dixon? i hope so. Turgeon?
would be nice. but thinking about it lately, i think it will be a mid major
coach looking to move up. but who know's. they are doing a good job
of keeping things quiet.
