Do you have any links about this?ducklydoright wrote:Butler has worked with many other ncaa recruits and in the past he has lied and used fake offers from schools, such as Miami, to bolster a recruits appeal to other D-1 schools. In one of the cases in particular he supposedly was "Advising" one of his HS sr. clients and he knew that the kid was not a solid D-1 recruit, so he lied and said that his client had an offer from Miami, which was false, because he thought that if other schools saw that Miami had offered him that maybe some other D-1 schools would take a second or even possibly a first look at his client. Now it is a pretty crafty and honorable thing to want your client to get in to a big name school, but what's not honorable is lying and bending the rules to accomadate your client.
If true, and honestly, I think it's a pretty big if unless Butler flat out admitted it, I really don't see it as that big of a deal. Yeah, it's not good to lie. But, there are degrees of lies. This is the equivalent of lying on a resume for a job. Something that, according to studies, a massive amount of people do. Not what I feel is justification to trash a persons entire character over. You probably have a friend or relative that once lied on a resume. Doesn't mean they are deserving of the types of comments being thrown Butlers way.
Besides, I don't even buy that as being the reason. People left and right are calling Butler every name in the book. You're the first person I've seen who has referenced anything about previously lying about who gave offers. Sounds more like an excuse in a witch trial to me.
