Oversensitive? Maybe a little. This is the internet after all. But since I think your post was mean-spirited, I thought I should say something about it. It's not a super big deal though by any measure, I'm with you on that.
The dude doesn't post a lot. He may not know that this has been said before, or maybe he felt it needed repeating. I have no idea. And I definitely disagree with him. But I really do think he was sharing an opinion, and that IS the purpose of this board. It may not of been the most thought-out opinion, but it's an opinion and a discussion topic nonetheless.
It's totally fine to comment on his opinion. Hell, I was commenting on your comment of his comment (hah). My issues with it were I thought it was wrong and that it was presented kind of rudely, and it really didn't need to be.
Sometimes you can't flatter someone when you're trying to defend someone. But there's a difference between saying you were rude and you saying he's just seeking attention, namean?
I didn't really want to take the time to quote individual parts of your post, but I think you'll get what points each of my paragraphs were referring to.
And I should probly add that I do like your posts. They're usually smart and well thought-out, even if sometimes they're kinda pessimistic. This time I just thought that you were a little mean.
You're right. I could have been more careful about the way that I put it.
I could see how someone might take it as rude. Though, I didn't say that he was just seeking attention. I threw that out there as a possibility. But, if he has some other reason that I didn't throw out there, there's no need to be offended by theories that don't apply to him. There would only be motivation to clarify.
Looking back at the thread. It sure seems like there were other responses that were closer to mean-spiritedness than my post.
On another note, I don't remember being pessimistic about anything Duck related. When have I been pessimistic in posts? Just curious.. Maybe I have!

I can't cite any examples of you being pessimistic, and I definitely could be wrong. I just have the impression that you have been a few times, but I really don't know.
Yeah there might've been. Something about your post bothered me though.
Anyways, glad we basically kissed and made up (in a heterosexual, "hug it out bitch" kind of way)
If anyone gets the Entourage reference, you are now cooler in my eyes

I dunno... You'd have to be a lot cuter than Jeremy Piven (And a lot more female!) for me to participate in that one!

So you meet this absolutely B-E-A-Utiful woman in pilates (if you don't like pilates, fill in the blank) and so you decide to go up and talk to her, and you really hit it off, you guys are laughing and having a great time. Then, you decide to ask her on a date. The date goes smoothly and after dinner and a movie, she says she wants to see you again. You guys talk every night on the phone, but can't get any plans going. Finally, you go on another date, and when you drop her off at her building, she asks you up to her place for a cup of coffee. You think that it would be rude to deny, so you follow her up into her apartment. once in her apartment you guys have some coffee, and she tells you she has something to confess...she's engaged to this ugly-ass 400 pound bohemith.

so you sit there, contemplating what you should say next, when she tells you that she's ready to leave him for you. You are ecstatic. You tell her that you are ready to take your relationship to the next level. She says she still needs to think things over, but you are in the lead. She says she needs to sleep on it, and you give her a kiss goodnight and drive home...You still talk to her and see her every now and again, but she hasn't made a decision. It's so frustrating to think how she could even be thinking this over. This other guy has lots of potential, but he just makes bad decision after bad decision and drives his life into the ground (*cough*shannon*cough*) Meanwhile, you are a very good-looking guy who just graduated from college, and has friends in VERY high places. Your future is looking great, this other guy has a dead-end job at Cold Stone Ice Creamery. You keep thinking to yourself, I should just leave her...but this woman will complete you, she's more than just a lover to you, she's your best friend. You can talk to her about anything, you know that she will always love you, you know this is the woman you want to spend the rest of your life with. She is what could take you life to the next level.
Now tell me...is this the kind of woman you just LEAVE????
I think...not, Brown is a Dynasty. Bryce could single-handily bring Oregon out of obscurity. He is the one who can take this program to the next level. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance...You don't just leave that.
Man, I need a girlfriend

We already stopped bickering. Now you're just complaining.
I think even if BB doesn't pan out (which I doubt based on what I've seen of him playing. His biggest problem is how he carries the ball... For that to be your biggest problem you either have to have no arms or be VERY good), we still will get great press for bringing in someone who's known nationwide as the best recruit in the country, especially one that comes from across the country

Gotta agree. As much of a show as the Bryce Brown recruitment process has turned into. No doubt if he comes to Oregon it will propel the program to national championship calibre status almost immediately.

I was thinking about BB's choice on the 16th. Without a doubt if he choses any school other than Oregon, 30 people will post blaming his parents. The weird part is his mom appears to favor the Kansas schools, his dad Miami, and Butler...... (well probably whatever school would benefit his prep school/adviser project the most). On the 16th I just hope if he choses LSU or even UT (my worthless gut instinct) that this board can accept it as "his" choice without all the excuses. Here is hoping we suceed and he becomes a Duck. If we don't, lets do it with class and not cry over spilled milk blaming everyone else.

I wonder if Butler was secretly hoping to get his service operating in the black with a sweetheart deal like the one the NCAA is currently investigating Lute Olsen and the Arizona basketball team for?

I don't think that observing when parents influence a recruits decision is classless blaming. If it's true, it's simply explaining what happened.
I don't think anyone doubts that it sometimes happens that parents talk recruits out of their first choice.

I would even help your point further by saying 90% or MORE recruits respect and at least listen to their parents input when making this large step into adulthood. There is no doubt times where parents do flat "force?" decisions on their kids and by no means am I saying that happened with Diante. I am just saying that as fans we should be able to support our school and not just look for some cookie cutter excuse why something went astray so we can blame someone else.

I hear you. There's classy fan behavior and... not so classy.
I just think the "parent influence" observation could be helpful in measuring our recruiting situation. Just like in horseshoes, close does count. So, not getting a recruit that wanted to go here means something different than one that didn't like the program themselves.
Now, claiming "we didn't want that jerk anyway!" That's a different story.
