I wouldn't be able to take satisfaction in a "title" if Auburn was stripped. So yes, I'm over it..plus they wouldn't give it to us anyways I think..

Yeah my bad, I should have been more clear. I'm just sick of the media fascination and s***. These guys who supposedly have the dirt on the situation, but are more interested in making a buck than right and wrong. What makes them any better/worse than the Newtons? Now Newton and Tenn rumors are starting to float around I just feel like the whole thing is so convoluted it's just a joke.

Last I knew, UT fans weren't so keen on Kiffin. I'm not too familiar with this rock, but from what I understand they paint it up on the reg. It would appear they were none too happy with USC nor Kiffin  . Here's what they thought when Kiffin bailed:

Apologies for the NSFW image. Mods, totally understand if you lock this post down.

Edit: Pulled the pics. If curious, shoot me a PM.

We've been hearing about some "mysterious tapes" regarding Auburn boosters and paying players for months. Rumors are just that until something actually materializes. Not a week goes by where we Auburn fans here about a potential "bombshell" about to drop. Another week goes by and another "bombshell" is a dud.

All eyes are focused on Auburn, however, they were never even under investigation. All the financial paper work checked out, NCAA prez stated on 3 occasions that Cam/Auburn is in the clear. Why more people aren't raising their eyebrows at MSU is beyond me. By all accounts everything seems to point their direction. Whatever.

For the topic at hand, even more players have come out in defense of Auburn. McClover also posted this on his Twitter page yesterday:
@STANLU75 READING ALL THESE RUMORS BLOGS ABOUT ME.. AND ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW..HOW YOU WRITE A STORY WITHOUT FACTS IS BEYOND MY MIND.
So drag the waters some more I guess.

My apologies, I'll edit it out. If anyone wishes to see the pictures, just PM me.

For those still curious without PM. Various "F Yous" to USC and Kiffin spray painted on a rock on campus.

No offense taken, but I know some of the other posters might have taken exception to the verbalization on the rock, hence the comment. If you just post a link for that type of content, most of us who want to check it out, will.

I get the point about the lack of love for Lame, though.

As I remember there was a rather brisk market in shirts using the same sentiments as the rock when Lane left Tennessee.

I suspect any hard evidence (tapes) against Auburn would be in the hands of the FBI as part of their investigation. If so it could be similar to the Reggie Bush case, where a final NCAA determination was held up for several years because of various civil lawsuits between the parties. If the Feds are building a case it could be a while before this is settled.

I think that every school has some demons that they don't want exposed (including Oregon) about their recruiting, but I wouldn't be surprised if SEC schools overall have more than the average program.

I would agree that the information available points to a problem at MSU. However, a problem at MSU is a problem for Cam Newton and that involves Auburn at least that much.

At this point I hope they keep that idiot down there. I'm sorry but I just don't think he's a good coach and since his staff pretty much followed him here I don't think they're very good either.

I just have to ask because I fail to understand why MSU has an issue when they reported Cecil Newton to the SEC and Mike Silve within days of being asked to pay for Cam. This all being done 2 months before signing day. Cam commited to Auburn over the Christmas/New Years break, Dec 27th if memory serves. So how does this point to MSU?

Is is because they were asked and said no? Therefor MSU is dirty? Dont give me speculation, I want verified fact here. If anything this still points to Auburn. How anyone can not see that is beyond me (although I think Cecil choose Auburn as an FU to MSU for not paying). I am not trying to stir the pot, just asking if there is something here I am not aware of. Also before anyone gets out of control, Cecil asked a former player, that player contacted the AD's office, AD's office contacts SEC. How are they the bad guy?

Yeah, that one has me scratching my head also! How do you get in trouble for blowing the whistle on a play for pay scam?!

Who knows who the "bad guy" is. But, MSU isn't off the hook in my view for two reasons:

A) They are the only school that we have direct evidence of being offered a deal by Cecil. There is currently no direct link publicly available that Auburn was even offered a deal. A lot of connecting dots and circumstantial evidence. But, no direct evidence.

B) They did not promptly report the incident the way that you suggest. The information came out from them slowly. Even now, there is continuous talk about more evidence from those associated with MSU but it isn't revealed. This at least gives the appearance that there is some reason why they don't want it to be public either.
Kenny Rogers told ESPN radio 103.3 in Dallas on Thursday that when he and Cecil Newton met with two MSU coaches at a hotel in Starkville, Miss., last Nov. 27, one of the coaches said "No, no I don't want to hear that," when Cecil Newton asked about the payment for Cam Newton to attend Mississippi State.

...

Mississippi State compliance officials relayed the alleged conversations to Southeastern Conference compliance officials in January, according to two other sources close to the football program. The school said it didn't provide additional information requested by the SEC to the conference until July 2010 because of "time-consuming eligibility issues involving non-football matters in the winter and spring of 2010."

Mississippi State coach Dan Mullen said that he and his assistants are the only people on the Bulldogs' staff registered with the NCAA as recruiters, but he sidestepped other questions Wednesday about the latest allegation against Newton.

Late Wednesday afternoon, Mississippi State issued a statement clarifying when it contacted the SEC and when it turned over information. The school admitted that it called the SEC in January "regarding an issue relating to its recruitment of Cam Newton."

It said that the SEC asked for specific information, which the school didn't provide until July, however.

"Due to MSU dealing with ongoing and time-consuming eligibility issues involving non-football matters in the winter and spring of 2010, the specific SEC request went unfulfilled," the Mississippi State statement said. "Some additional information was provided to the SEC during July of 2010.

So, it took MSU 2 months to report it at all (AFTER Cam chose Auburn) and 8 months to comply with the information request. That's a lot of time to investigate the situation, find ways to cover up complicity, talk to witnesses, etc. "We were busy with other matters" seems like a pretty unlikely explanation, imo.

Personally, I think that they're both complicit in some way. But, MSU doesn't want to spill the beans because they will suffer consequences. Even worse now because they lied about it. Heads would roll at MSU if they had to acknowledge more talks with Cecil regarding his dealings.

Horse manure. Slive is a dictator, had he wanted the info any faster he would have demanded and gotten it! He only got heated about it when the NCAA got involved.
