I'm crossing over too...

Bye bye Kent

i was an Kent fan when he played here. never been a fan of his as a coach.
he cant coach half court offense. he can take a good big man and make
him worse. what really bugs me about his offense is you have one guy
dribbling the ball and 4 guys standing there watching him. no motion. nothing.
And we all know ernie cant coach defense. has to bring someone in to do
it. and the guy coached at arizona which was never known as a defensive
school either. kent is just way in over his head. the program will not go further with him at the helm i dont believe. time to bring in a young up and
coming guy to lead us into matt court.

Just frustrating to see a lose to Montana!! Ya EK has to go...we have to get FEW!

I disagree...We're not big enough to bring in someone to replace him...And don't tell me Few...What exactly has he done?...Please tell me

Don't you think Stanford thought the same thing before they brought in Harbaugh (I know, different sport, but same idea)? We have money, a new arena, a good town for a family, and have been to two elite eights in the last ten years. We're plenty big enough to get a good mid-major coach or a good big-time assistant coach.

I for one wouldn't mind trying to get someone like Brian Gregory. Seems like a midwest guy, but he certainly has the experience as an asst under a great head coach and his teams at Dayton sure have been pretty good.

A mid-major coach is what your asking for?...Thats who's gonna have fans excited to fill the 250 million dollar arena?...Or an assistant coach?...Come on now really?

Pretty sure with this new Arena coming up, we could find a better coach than Ernie..

A mid-major head coach that had his team ranked in the top-15 and has a good reputation and is still young is exactly what we should be looking for. That's exactly what Arizona went after with their current coach. We don't need a retread that didn't succeed at another institution or one that will retire in 3 or 4 years.

Think small you will be small. I disagree this job would be an attractive one for a lot of high caliber coaches. I'm not saying we could snag the likes of a Calipari or someone in that realm but COME ON you have to do better than Kent. Is that who you expect to fill the arena. The excitement around the program is dead. I just hope Bellotti does not think like you do.

if a change was going to be made and Ernie let go, do you think they wait until the end of the year or do they do it during the year and let Dunlap take over? (all this assuming we continue to struggle - i think if we bounce back and make the ncaa tourny, he'll keep his job - but how likely that we'll do that doesn't look good). would Kent being let go during the year make it easier for the process of finding a new coach? (the coaching prospects knowing that the job is officially vacant). Would guys like Jamil Wilson transfer? (main reason he came was bc of ernie and his staff). if we lose Kent, do we also lose Kenny Panye and our connection with worldwide wes - which would hurt us a lot in recruiting?

There's reason to be an EK supporter...How about you go look at the facts and see how many coaches have taken there team to the elite 8 twice in the last 10 years...I'm sorry if I'd rather have a national championship caliber team which both of our elite 8 teams were once every few years instead of a first or second round exit in the tourney every year. In my opinion that's the definition of settling for mediocrity.

I'll take Elite 8 runs every few years too, but that doesn't mean the team has to be horrible during the years we don't make Elite 8 runs. Last year was terrible. The groundwork for the future is terrible again because of the lack of spacing of classes. Hopefully I'm wrong about this year, but the start is not promising this year either.
