Sorry if there was a miscommunication. I agree it sounds wrong, and I sure as hell think it is, but I'm pretty sure it's still legal. I think the mentor is profiting from this and I think it's slimy as hellMFRDuckFan wrote: You misinterpreted what I said. I NEVER accused any of the Browns from profiting. I was merely pointing out that on the surface it wouldn't look good. If it's legal, then fine. Doesn't sound right to let your mentor make money off of you though.......kind of weird. Must be a misquote on the guy or something. Like everything else during this recruiting cycle, probably should only believe about 1/3 of what we read.

Definitely slimy.......just wondering how accurate the quote is. Hmmmmm.....Tray Dub wrote:Sorry if there was a miscommunication. I sure hope that nobody on this board pays the money to get Brown updates.

I officially do not care about landing Bryce Brown anymore. We get him, great. We don't..LM James and Ethan Grant WILL MORE THAN DO.
I don't know if Brown knows this is going on, but if he does he needs to end it ASAP and his "mentor" seems like a slimey douche

This is about the craziest thing I have ever heard of. I've followed recruiting for about 4 or 5 years now and this is certainly puts the cherry on top of the cake when it comes to recruiting and it's darkside. Start to wonder if Brown is worth the risk of having to deal with such stupidity....This possibly can't be his idea but my god what are his folks thinking about???

If the NCAA doesn't like it, they will take action to change the rules... But the truth is, there are probably plenty of "advisers" out there who make money off of higgh profile recruits, and their families already. This is just another sneak-geek way to 'weasel' a couple of bucks from fans whose sense of entitlement to info on the latest celebrity drives them to do anything to get the latest scuttlebutt.
Honestly, easy accesibility of the internet fuels this kind of thing...
Is it slimy? The short answer is obviously, emphatically... Yes! This guy (Butler) is already making money off the Browns through his training facility and website. To them, he is providing a valuable service... To him, convincing BB to give up this kind of control is just another "revenue stream".

Biggens and Co. at ESPN should shine a bright light for the sporting world to see what is going on and make the cockroach run for cover. It will only make Brown come to his senses and might have others think twice about it. Brown and religion need to take a hard look in th mirrow about these dealings. At least that is my opinion.

I found a link to the website on a KSU forum board & it's not specifically about Bryce Brown. It's about prospects in general. From what I could cull out of the conversation, the money is "donated" to their charity, to bring kids closer to God. Hence the participation of these young men.

Silly me, I didnt know God has been forced to bribe kids into friendship.

Re: Miami Article update Brown
so is the money that butler would gain from this info go to charity's? If so, I jumped to conclusions by calling him a douche, but I still think there are better ways to gain charity money imo..

Re: Miami Article update Brown
My understanding is that is what is being presented, but the guys on the KSU board said the charity is not a registered 501c. It's hinky at best. It seems like this whole thing is just spiraled out of control for the kid. He's got so many people whispering in his ear, it's amazing. I feel sorry for Bryce. Everybody pushing from all angles. I would love him at Oregon, but the more this drags on, the less likely it becomes. That's okay because we need guys that are wanting to be part of a TEAM and as the old saying goes, there's no I in team.DmoneyDuck wrote:so is the money that butler would gain from this info go to charity's? Delaying your enrollment and charging people for updates on where you're going is about at Christian as BrYce McNeal lying to the coaching staff. I'm not a religious person, but I'm pretty sure this isn't what the Christian belief system is based upon
