A semi-substantiated rumor on volnation says that Brown and his family are going to visit UT again on an unofficial this weekend.

It seems like Tennessee uses its "we are in the SEC" as the main reason for athletes to choose their school. On top of that, Kiffin is a tool and Brown would never be the "one man running bacK' there because of Oku. If Brown does end up there, you know it's because of location and the parents. If his relationship really is special with Chip Kelly, this shouldn't be a difficult decision.

Brown wouldn't be the "one man running back" here either, we have Blount and L. James.

By next year with Blount graduated he would be the #1 guy. Much different than coming in the same class as the #1 All-Purpose Back.

Eh, Oku is going in at the same time as Brown and is one of the top backs in the country. Blount is gone after this year and Brown would get the majority of the carries even with James here. If Brown comes to Oregon, he will be the man. I think Tennessee already has like 4 other big time running backs. Maybe you're right, and I'm just trying to find reasons why he would be a better fit at Oregon. :D

Brown would be the only RB in this class and would be the only "big" RB within 2 years of his class. LMJ is a smaller slasher style back and compliments the bigger bruiser. We currently hold a commitment from Ethan Grant who would also be considered a smaller, slasher/speed back. There is essentialy 3 full years of recruitment classes where we don't have a large RB. If Bryce committed to us, he would be the only big back in the middle of a whole bunch of smaller speed guys. We essentialy have the perfect spot availability for BB. Every single thing points in our favor except for maybe geography (distance from home and family/brother). 6 days and counting....

I question the validity of what Tennessee fans are saying. Bryce Brown is fasting and is not talking to coaches and media right now. I have a hard time believing he is calling random Tennessee fans to tell them he is coming down for an unofficial when he won't talk to the head writer for rivals

I was thinking the same thing. If he is fasting right now why would him and his family want to travel to Tennesse? The Vol source is a radio host of some sort from what it sounds like and he seams rather confident that Bryce and his family are going to visit so who knows. I just want it to be the 16th already so we can get it over with.

Well to his credit I did go to VSPN's site and listened to his Brown radio interview. I think he has at least some contact with Brown. A few days ago when Wheaten posted The 2008 rushing stats for all of the schools Brown was looking at on Tenn's board Vspn seemed almost panicky that the other fans were giving face time to Oregon and basically pleaded for them to stop. I am not sure how that rates on his confidence scale of this being as done of a deal as their fans seem to think. I don't think going on a last minute second trip back there can be all that great from an Oregon perspective though. Add that to the fact he is taking his parents with him this time could be him convincing them. One thing I do know is it is not the 16th yet.

Good points huckthefuskies. You are following things closely over there indeed. I had the exact same thought. He does seem to credibly have contact with Brown. If not, he is the best internet liar I've ever come across. And yes, he did seem to get agitated about the Duck info I was posting. If he knew Brown was a lock to UT, I don't think he would have cared one way or another.

That said, my impression is that it's true that he is planning a trip to Tennessee soon with the parents. On the one hand, the most obvious reason for him to go there is to sell his parents, etc. and that's bad for Oregon. But, there are some less obvious, alternative possibilities.

Maybe he is still set on Oregon and he is entertaining his parents wishes to research all options.

Maybe Brown wasn't sure about his last trip there and wants his parents to go with to get a better read of the situation.

Maybe the family just recently accepted (or found out) that Miami is out of the picture. So, they are now starting to look at the other programs more than before. UT would be the only school that the family hasn't met since Oregon has presumably been out there, they went to LSU, etc. Perhaps they just want to have face time with UT also so they can throw in their 10 cents on which remaining options they like.

Bottom line is that there are still plausible scenarios that make Oregon a possible choice, imo.

Funny because I had the exact same thought! But then again, so far Vol-homers have shown something considerably less than Southern Hospitality, so it's hard to know.

Well, this may be a shot in the dark, but maybe if the Brown's do trip to Tennessee, his parents might see the female influence that seems to have taken Bryce's immediate interest (the so-called hostesses, which sound like college-football-player escorts), and persuade them to have him choose to go elsewhere...

Remember that San Diego recruit that dropped his commitment to Oregon because of the "immoral" behavior he witnessed on his trip? It seems like Oregon recruiting has cleaned up its act since then.

It's funny to watch this thing spiral out of control. Then on the 16th, one group of fans will be elated and the rest will be crushed and will make up excuses for why they didn't need Brown in first place.
