Re: How do the ducks finish?
DJ Johnson tweeted that his brother PJ graduated and is eligible to grad transfer. PJ was a JuCo guy that was REALLY good at Arizona as a DT this season. In 9 games he had 31 tackles, including 8.5 TFL and 3 sacks. He looked fantastic when playing us this season. Reports out of Arizona are that he's staying in Tucson, but he would be a great addition to provide depth in the middle of the line.

I don’t think Bru McCoy ever even visited us, did he?
Kyle Ford we have a small chance at. I don’t think we have a shot with McCoy at all.

If Herbert stays and we get DJU? kid next year no need. The only reason he was a junior backup was because LO had a top QB last yr. Had to wait his turn. He could have started most places. My grandson played for West Linn in same league. Seen him play. I think he compares to maybe Shough. If Herbert leaves we have Millen and Shough. Might want to add another. Not sure would be him. WL lost to the Penn State bound 4 star twice. He's really a tremendous running back who can somewhat throw the ball. Receivers, like Herbert, helped him out in the passing game.GrandpaDuck wrote:Agreed. There are many players who come out of nowhere to become dominant high school players in their Senior years. Not that he is or could be an Oregon target, but as an example of late development, the Lake Oswego QB is one who went from a Junior backup to 1st team all state over a Penn State bound 4 star.

These next couple weeks, best case they get some depth guysStevensTechU wrote:I see guys' level of expectations rising based on the early signing period. Just keep them tempered, ya'll. The average signee in the early signing period was a low 4* rating (.9097 on 247Sports). Don't go thinking that the late period is just going to be nothing but 5 star players because "the staff can focus on a few guys." Every school in the country is in the same boat.
Not many top dudes on the board at this point
I expect a couple jucos

Yeah I just picked him as a low to non-rated player who made a high school impact in his senior year. I knew about him off the top of my head and the point was too insignificant to research better examples.duck58 wrote:If Herbert stays and we get DJU? kid next year no need. I really like Millen. He kept improving through his Senior year, unlike some recruits who plateau as Juniors.

Sometimes, the dreaded plateau as a senior really just means a kid doesn’t have great coaching/nutrition/fitness coaching. You really just hope it doesn’t mean the kid has a mindset issue or physical limitations.

Millen is a 3* and I believe Shough was a 4*(might be mistaken) I'm with you. I like Millen off video.GrandpaDuck wrote:Yeah I just picked him as a low to non-rated player who made a high school impact in his senior year. Millen has a big upside and I think he's more ready for college than many people think.

I sure hope you are right. We are going to need him next year if Hurts gets injuredPhenom wrote:Millen has a big upside and I think he's more ready for college than many people think.

If we get hurts, we desperately need to run read plays. We can’t just run HB dive every time. If we stick with the pistol, hurts would be a legit weapon in that system.

Hopefully we won’t be finding out how to use Hurts. But hypothetically, with his experience, I wouldn’t dread the road games to Dallas, UW, Furd, or SC. Would even think the Ducks could be favored in a couple of them.lukeyrid13 wrote:If we get hurts, we desperately need to run read plays. We can’t just run HB dive every time. Re: How do the ducks finish?
There are a few quality QBs that could transfer in and do a good job as a stop gap while Burmeister, Shough and Millen develop for another year. Of course, I'd love to have Herbert back, but he needs to do what's best for himself and his family.Everythingsducky wrote:Hopefully we won’t be finding out how to use Hurts. I look at how it hurt Matt Barkley to stay in school for his senior year. On the other hand, there are guys like Andrew Luck who were still drafted high.
I just hope that if Herbert does end up declaring for the draft that we can get one of these experienced QBs. That could have a major impact on the rest of our recruiting class.

Re: How do the ducks finish?
I really like Millen’s potential, but he reads plays really slowly. Unless he had Big Play VA ability to pull a rabbit from a hat, he needs a year or more to develop.
