Prehmmr-

Just got word an East Coast coach has interest in Oregon and is a man an Oregon booster really likes. Should be interesting.
About the only big-name East Coast coach that we have a chance with that I would really want is Jaime Dixon of Pitt or Jay Wright at Villanova, but those guys don't seem like they are very likely choices. If anything, it's probably some assistant coach or a head coach at a lower-level school.

Jamie Dixon would be an amazing hire, but I have a hard time believing that he would leave Pitt.

Guys, I'll end the Jamie Dixon rumors right now. JD is a PITT alum and worked his whole life to get that job, he's already making top dollar and all his recruiting connections are on the east coast. There is a less than 0% chance that Jamie Dixon will be our next coach. And Jay Wright? really?? please tell me you're kidding, I mean I love Oregon as much as anyone but no basketball person is going to trade in Villanova for Oregon, it's just not happening.

Mops has an article about this on duck territory but it's premium content. Anyone know if he gives the name of the east coast coach there?

Not sure where you're getting your info on Jamie Dixon but he's a west coast guy. Born in Burbank, Cali & played his college ball at TCU. He went to Pitt as a part of Ben Howland's staff then took over when Howland left.

Why wouldn't JD be interested in returning to the West Coast... ?

I dunno, I was watching a Pitt game earlier this year where the commentators said he was a Pitt alum.

He went to school at TCU, and was born in California. In fact, pretty sure the only reason he coached at Pittsburgh is because he followed Howland there from Northern Arizona and ended up getting the job..

Yeah, it's too bad that's all we get from Mops these days. Between recruiting and all of this offseason info, there has been so much news. I understand he is busy, but it would be nice to see him come back to the place where it all started once in awhile. Same goes for Jhopduck.

Interesting rumor/name on the free board of educk (so take for what it's worth) but supositly the new HC will be Trail Blazers assistant Monty Williams. If you follow

the blazers at all you know they think highly of him, and he's been close to getting and NBA HC job. Of course it's just a rumor so who knows.

Don't know much about him, but I think the ducks can do a lot better. My guess is that this is a rumor. He has no head coaching experience and no college coaching experience. I doubt they already know the new coach, especially since several will be in the ncaa tournament.

Reportedly Monty Williams has great relationships with players and has a great mind for coaching. An ex-Division I player, drafted in the 1st round, has learned to coach under Nate McMillan and Greg Popovich. Also coaches the summer league team for Blazers. I would love to see him interviewed.
