Another person that hasn't been talked about is former Oregon and now current UCLA assistant Scott Duncan. Lots of experience and good recruiter.

Prehmmr-
Just got word an East Coast coach has interest in Oregon and is a man an Oregon booster really likes. Should be interesting.
Yeah, it's too bad that's all we get from Mops these days. Between recruiting and all of this offseason info, there has been so much news. I understand he is busy, but it would be nice to see him come back to the place where it all started once in awhile. Same goes for Jhopduck.
I actually talked to Jhop a couple weeks ago, and I'll try to post some DT stuff here more often. Obviously I can't post too much because DT needs to attract members and make a living. But Jhop was really nice about it, so that should help out.

Oregon sucked before Kent… sucked for a long time…. Then we Won two Pac10 Tourney’s…. a Pac10 Title… 2 Elite 8’s…. one of only 20 teams to do so over the last Decade…. that number dwindles if you only go back to 2002 the first year Oregon went… Enjoy the token upsets of UA and UCLA every few years at the Matt… that was what we enjoyed before Kent and that is all we will enjoy after Kent… What arrogance, by both fans and boosters… reality will be very sobering when there is a total lack of Coaches interested in the job…. Steve Lavin? Tubby Smith? these guys couldn’t recruit or win at UCLA and Kentucky… why would anyone think they would do better at Oregon?... Mark Few?... Jay Wright?... Mark Few doesn’t want anything to do with the expectations at Oregon. And he has never seen an Elite 8…. Jay Wright, the fact he is mentioned is laughable…. Tell me who wants this JOB…. and give me a reason they would leave their current position for Oregon?... And no up and comers… we are not rebuilding… we are supposed to be opening Matt with a big name coach to sell seats…

mops had a good quote in his premium article about why someone would want this job...
The Nike connection along with the new arena and Oregon's already impressive facilities the Ducks could be a sleeping giant with the right coach...

If PK is on-board with whomever MB decided to pursue, I would imagine money would be the last of Oregon's concerns.

wahhhhhhhhhh!!!! Ernie Kent is gone! He was the greatest coach ever, we were heading in the right direction.
Dude seriously, let it go.
You would be surprised how many people will be interested in this job. You may think there's nothing to like about this job but money talks and UO can give someone like Mark Few twice what he's making now. Even if they can't attract an established coach, do you honestly think a hot assistant is going to turn down a big 6 conference job with a lot of money and resources with a brand new arena opening?
Kent is gone, he deserved it, you are one of 18 people in the world who felt he should back next year, just give up the fight. He was not fired to fill seats at the new arena, he has fired because he failed at his job.

As funny or sad as these threads concerning EK have become (Depending on your viewpoint), try this Scout thread from last year as a perspective.

Fire Mark Few
If we lose before the final four this year few needs to go.
It made me laugh.

I understand where the Kent supporters are coming from. He's a beloved Alumni who took this program further than it had ever been (or at least further than it had in 50+ years prior to his arrival). He handled himself with class and will likely go down as the greatest coach in this program's history and it is sad that he won't get a chance to coach in the building he helped build.
But the undeniable truth is that interest in this program has been declining for a few years now and they currently have absolutely no momentum. Right now even OSU has more momentum than we do. With the new building set to open, the time is right to move on. The athletic department cannot afford to have the new court at anything less than capacity and Ernie was just not bringing that type of enthusiasm from the fans anymore. It had to happen.

Yeah, it's too bad that Lavin had the #1 recruiting class in the country twice. And to say that Lavin or Smith didn't win at their schools is a joke.

Just to debunk a myth, (that has spread, I think do to people not liking the way Greene dumped UO) but EK did not take over a program that was down by any stretch of the imagination. Here are the 3 years prior to EK taking over
20-7
11-7 pac 10 and 1 and done NCAA
17-11-1
10-6 pac-10 Cal had to forfeit a win over UO and for some reason there was a tie with Fresno.
17-11
8-10 pac-10
1 and done NIT.
I think an argument can be made that the new coach is taking over a bigger rebuilding job than what EK took over. I think Greene brought in Wilkins and AD Smith, who both played a huge part in EK's early success at UO.
And here is how Monson did while at UO in the 80's
Oregon 1983-84 16 13 NIT First Round
Oregon 1984-85 15 16
Oregon 1985-86 11 17
Oregon 1986-87 16 14
Oregon 1987-88 16 14 NIT Second Round
Oregon 1988-89 8 21
Oregon 1989-90 15 14 NIT First Round
Oregon 1990-91 13 15
Oregon 1991-92 6 21
Oh and Harter in the 70's...Only 1 team per confrence was allowed in the NCAA back then or he would have made 2-3 NCAA's. UO basketball hasn't been exactly great, but not nearly as bad as what some EK fans want the rest of us to believe.
1971-72 Oregon 6-20 0-14
1972-73 Oregon 16-10 8-6
1973-74 Oregon 15-11 9-5
1974-75 Oregon 21-9 6-8 NIT
1975-76 Oregon 19-11 10-4 NIT
1976-77 Oregon 19-10 9-5 NIT
1977-78 Oregon 16-11 6-8

Where is the lack of momentum you speak of?...Next year this team will be returning a ton of talent coming of year where they got better and better as the year went on and would have had a much better record had it not been for the ridiculous amount of games missed due to injuries and academics. Declining for a few years?...2 years ago we were a senior laden team in the ncaa tourney and without a New York Knicks esque drought in the second half would have most likely made a good NCAA run with those kids and the year before were in the elite 8.
Yes I do understand he's gone...But just because he's gone doesn't mean I have to agree with the decision now...And like I've said I'm not gonna stop rooting for the Ducks over it because I do love the Ducks and I hope win...I'm just being realistic about what I feel is gonna happen...I do truly hope I'm wrong...And I'd celebrate an amazing hire just as much as anyone else will, but even then will hold back to say he can replace Ernie until he can show he can recruit to Eugene.

By getting better and better as the year went along, you mean winning the first two conference games, going on a 6-game winning streak and then plummeting back to earth like a piano falling out of a window??
we did not get better as the year went on, in fact we got progressively worse, even players individually got worst (most notably Dunnigan) and now our top scorer is gone so I don't know what momentum you're referring to.

show me where Tubby says he's not interested. He said he hasn't been contacted by Oregon and that he's happy in Minnesota but didn't comment at all about his interest in coaching at UO. If you checked for facts before blindly stating a dumb opinion you would know things like this.
