Re: Soma Vainuku
I don't think there is really a position he would fit in the Oregon offense. I wonder if his preference is offense or defense at the college level?

In this video- http://oregon.scout.com/a.z?s=128&p=2&c=848113 he doesn't hesitate to say he prefers LB. Before the guy even gets the question out of his mouth he says "linebacker."VinnyKnuckles wrote:I don't think there is really a position he would fit in the Oregon offense. Re: Soma Vainuku
That is good he prefers defense. I get the feeling from watching that video that his first choice would be to follow in the footsteps of his cousin and go to USC. It will be interesting to see whether or not he gets an offer from either the Ducks or Trojans.duckseason wrote:In this video- http://oregon.scout.com/a.z?s=128&p=2&c=848113 he doesn't hesitate to say he prefers LB. Re: Soma Vainuku
Not sure how a decent 257 lb MLB would not be a positive in certain situations. It does make you wonder what kind of DT he could possibly develop into, given that 4.75 speed...
In an earlier interview with Vainuku, I recall him stating that he wanted to follow in Rey M's footsteps in the context of D-1 football, not necessarily USC football.
Maualuga apparently has a family much like that of Haloti Ngata... Lots of cousins who have decent football talent, scattered all over the west.

Re: Soma Vainuku
I believe he is now 6'1 and not 5'11 like it was reported during his sophomore season. If true, and he really is 6'1, he could move into the DT position down the line.

Re: Soma Vainuku
Just interviewed with Brandon Huffman of scout. In the video he starts out talking a LOT about the Ducks. Soma says he is 6'1 258 right now. Wants to be around 250-255 in fall. Wants to play Mid Linebacker too.
