Blake Bell trims list to top 10 or 11

Post by jhopduck »

Oregon is not on this list, which is not surprising.
Oklahoma, Missouri, Nebraska, Georgia, UCLA, Clemson, Notre Dame, LSU, Iowa and Iowa State.
They forget to mention Texas A&M above but he is high on them and is visiting them. So although this article says it's his top 10, it's actually 11.
Kind of surprising since they all run different style offenses.
From what I hear this is Oklahoma's QB to lose. Texas A&M is a close second right now.

According to Rivals, he was one of two QB's that Chip was recruiting. Hopefully we fair better with Bolden.

Honestly I didn't think Bell was enough of a run threat for our offense. With names like Bolden, Godfrey, Walker in the mix this does not hurt us at all. IMO

Yeah, I just noticed that Chip was his recruiter so it kind of surprised me to be dropped from his list so quickly.

I don't think Bell was ever really interested in Oregon. So it's hard for Chip to make something out of nothing. HOWEVER, at least it's out of the way early and we can identify with other targets that we have much better chances with instead of wasting time here.

Any idea where we stand with his other target Bolden? The kid has a ton of offers.

Bolden just got an offer from Nebraska and there was a story on it with Rivals. He tipped his hat none-zero-zip-nada. He's really picking up steam though and it sounds like this one could be a while. Sounds like a nice sincere kid though.

Thanks for the reply. At least there is some recruiting action to follow. This is shaping up to be an exciting recruiting season.

I'm suspecting we only want 1 qb in this class and there are several names out there of kids that Oregon is interested in or kids that are interested in Oregon (or mutual). I listed some of the names i know of that may be on our radar (and i know its still early in the recruiting process) but of these guys, 1) who do you most and 2) who do we have good chances with?
(there may be others i left off so feel free to add any other names)

Robert Bolden
Barry Brunetti
Terrance Broadway
Jacoby Walker
Phillip Sims
Nick Montana
Tyler Shreve
others....

i haven't seen enough film of all of them yet, but i was really impressed from what i saw of Brunetti and i'd say either him or Bolden are atop my wish list. jhop, mops, or anyone with more info care to give some details on our chances (good or bad) with some of these guys? and for those who've seen more film than myself, does a certain player (or players) stand out to be atop your wish list?

Erase Sims and Montana from the list. IMO

Bolden, Brunetti, Broadway all are interested and are upper end targets.
Shreve and Walker are backup plans if we whiff on the above.
Jeffrey Godfrey out of Florida(Josh Reese' teammate) is moving up the ladder too.

Montana should follow dads foot steps and goto ND. Id like to see Bolden, Brunetti, or Broadway and pick up Godfrey just to ensure we get Reese.

Thanks jhop! Of those 3, do you have a preference from watching film or what you've read if we had our choice? All 3 look like great options and Shreve and Walker look like decent backup plans as well. I don't know much about Godfrey

I personally am not the greatest evaluator of talent like Mops or Baciami on Rivals or vinnyknuckles. I comment on what I see, but it could be opposite what CK is looking for.
Bolden claims that CK told him he is our #1 qb target.
I think Baciami21 of rivals really likes Broadway. He did tell me he's not so impressed with Walker's progress.
Godfrey is a bit more of a project it sounds like but his athletic ability is very impressive from what Luke S of soflafootball says.
Brunetti I don't know enough about to comment.

UPDATE ON BELL:
What he said may have been taken out of context he claims by the reporter. Jeremy Crabtree of Rivals contacted him and he named some of the schools off the top of his head he is looking at, he has not narrowed his list or "dropped" anyone at this time. He will after some trips and stuff soon.

I have a feeling that if Bolden, Brunetti, or Broadway were to contact CK about a commit, it would be difficult for him to say no, given the success rate (Or lack thereof) of the last 2 recruiting seasons.
