Chances that we land Boyd or Brown

Post by oreducks77 »

As much as I try to be positive. At the end of the day, I really don't think we get either of these guys. For Boyd, I think we're just too far away, coupled with the fact that his parents never visited here, how many times in the past have we been screwed over by parents?

Brown is already committed to Miami, his brother's there.

I think we are longshots when it comes to any of these big prospects out east...

The one thing I will say to contradict you is, from both of their mouths, Oregon is their lean as of right now.

Boyd I think comes. He wants to be a duck now he's just confirming with his parents as they are likely to move with him. That's a BIG family decision and they are taking their time. In the end I think his parents respect his decision and he's a duck. IF he was not set to have ACL surgery and we did not have the best facilities to offer I would not be so confident. 80% chance he's a duck.

Brown. I've thought all along we got him. I think we have so many things that are good for him. Our offense, stats, surrounding, CK. He really likes what we offer. Our depth chart is set for him to see playing time quickly.
However I'm a little worried about Tennessee and USC coming hard all of the sudden. They are good and recruit as well as anyone. I don't think he goes to SC, I think he visits and soon after commits to us or Miami. IF we keep him out of Petey's grasp, we get him. And they have too many RB's, that will be the ultimate difference. I dont like not being his last visit or at least second to last.
At this point unless Miami hires a genious of an OC that BB falls in love with right away, I don't think he goes. If Miami doesn't hire one soon, they will be way behind.
I like our chances for Brown less here, but by no means consider us out.
50% ducks.

All i have to say on Brown is I don't think he is sticking with Miami. Despite that he already has given them a soft verbal he has said we are his lean, and his brother is mad at shannon for not giving him as much playing time. Add that with a five star qb leaving (robert marve) and a four star receiver leaving for memphis shannon is clearly getting on some of his players nevers.

They haven't hired a new OC yet and the longer they do the worse it will be for recruiting. Compound that with the constant rumors about Shannon having next year to make some improvements or he's out and looking for a new job make things really shaky right now at Miami.

Noboday really knows. Everything is just a guess until signing day. But it is a good sign that they both have mentioned Oregon in a positive light in recent articles.

Per an article on Miami Scout he only has 1 official left and he is saving it for UM if they can ever get an OC hired so he can go talk to him. While the other schools are making a push I think it comes down to us and UM. With all the uncertainty at UM that works for us. The one strong point for them is his brother of course. I have got to think though that even if they do get an OC hired tomorrow there has to be some worry from the Browns whether or not Shannon will even be the coach there in a year or two. They are a mediocre team in a mediocre conference and word is Shannon leash is getting shorter.

USC and Tenn are way late to the game, Brian Butler (handles Brown’s) recruitment has said as much, Brown is interested in the teams that have been on him for a long time now . I think it would actually take a mistake on our part, or for us to somehow upset Brown for someone to knock us from the top-2 perch with him, which ain’t happening with 3 weeks left until LOI day. For a committed player to another team (where his brother plays), of his caliber & national stature, we couldn’t be in a better spot. CK has done a great job on him.

IVEGOTTA
I re-read the article on scout you are right about what they wrote. However they are incorrect, he has only taken three official visits.
Oregon 11/08/08
Clemson 11/28/08
Mizzou 10/25/08
Both rivals and scout list this.
He tripped K-State but it was unofficial.
So he has two left, one is Miami's, the other is a contest basically between SC and Tenn.
Either way, I'd sure love to have him.

I still think it will be either Miami or Oregon for Brown. For some reason, I don't see him going to USC.

I like our chances more with BB than Boyd, BB has said we lead and the quotes from his mouth, we would be hard pressed not to land him. So we can be completely excited/optimistic about him. As far as Boyd we are in the lead from his last report but I don't know, I liked our chances a few days ago now who knows...

We will see soon enough!

Been looking for a entry I read somewhere over the past couple of days that stated the brother was considering transferring from Miami if Bryce were to choose another school. For the life of me I can't find it now. Being it was on a discussion thread, would treat it as an unconfirmed rumour.
Has anyone else stumble across such a statement?

Not true, that was a rumor and BB himself said Author was very happy at UM.
