IOC drops wrestling

This is some bs imo. I doubt this will garner much attention here in the NW but just what the hell are the Olympics if they don't feature one of the oldest sports in history?

The Badminton teams were trying to lose for seeding purposes; all in the spirit of competition though!

If you had to drop a sport for 2020 in olympics, what would you have dropped instead?

Wrestling has been part of the Olympics since ancient times. Ping pong and trampoline, not so much. This move is beyond silly.

Modern pentathlon or trampoline would be my top choices. Some of the sports they want to include, such as speed climbing, wushu, and wakeboarding, don't have any more of a fan-following than wrestling and I doubt you could get the average viewer to take them as serious.

As a former Wrestler (Axemen Pride!) this is total BS. Wrestling is one of the world's oldest sports (if not the oldest) and the competition at the olympics draws competitors from so many countries around the world. A trip to the Olympics is the pinnacle of the Sport..this is sad day, but I don't think they will go out without a fight (no pun intended).

They are able to apply to get in but thats still bs. I liked one of the comments that said this would be one of the few issues that the US, Russia and Iran all AGREE on.

The IOC likes to have unversality in sports. Something I read today, at the 2012 Olympics, modern pentathlon had competitors from 26 countries; wrestling had competitors from 71 countries. I'd say wrestling is more widely done than any of the other sports kept. This is all on the lobbying done by modern pentathlon and taekwondo groups and hardly any on the part wrestling, who it sounds like didn't send many to argue its case.

I'm climber and i think it would be really stupid to have indoor climbing but not wrestling.
