You have NO class NC State
I submit to you a video…it plays before each home game. It is a poem written by Ban Borne for this purpose.
Now I give you the same video spliced together with NC State's "new" video.
STRAIGHT STOLE IT!

Well it is just one fan's video so technically he, not NC State itself, has no class in ripping off an athletic department's video.

No excuses!
Actually I was unaware that it was a fan video. How did you figure that one out?

By looking at who posted it. It appears the guy is a NC State and NO Saints fan.Bud Lee wrote:greenyellow wrote:Well it is just one fan's video so technically he, not NC State itself, has no class in ripping off an athletic department's video.

I think you are looking at the guy who posted the spliced version. The NC version is their actual intro for football games. That guy just put the two together to show it was a copy. It was originally posted by the official NCST youtube account.greenyellow wrote:By looking at who posted it. Meh. There were a few similar words, but I think they are mostly coincidental. They're not even the same sport, so I don't see how it could be considered a 'rip-off'.

WHAT! They changed about 8 words! One was the "east" instead of "west" in reference to the setting son, which makes no sense at all.

Now I am trolling? Oh, this is the limit. These SEC fans come in here and think they are these amazing trendsetters, and if anyone else happens to use some of the same words from the English language, they must be 'ripping it off from the amazing SEC'. Well, I take issue with LSU's use of the phrase 'setting sun'. That's our phrase; it belongs to the West Coast (you know, where the sun actually sets), and y'all ripped it off from us. It's even in our state song, which was written in 1920!Bud Lee wrote:

Land of the Empire Builders,
Land of the Golden West;
Conquered and held by free men,
Fairest and the best.
Onward and upward ever,
Forward and on, and on;
Hail to thee, Land of Heroes,
My Oregon.
Land of the rose and sunshine
Land of the summer's breeze;
Laden with health and vigor,
Fresh from the Western seas.
Blest by the blood of martyrs,
Land of the setting sun;
Hail to thee, Land of Promise,
My Oregon.
Hello? I didn't get my royalty check when y'all used that phrase? And what about this? You going to tell me this isn't a straight rip off?

Wait...there are more of us here...I thought I was the lone stand out at this point.
When it comes to the play card, I read somewhere that you all actually got the idea from Oklahoma State when y'all played them in the 2008 Holiday Bowl. Apparently they had a similar method of play calling.
With that said, taking something like that isn't the same as stealing someone's intellectual property. Style of play calling is the same as style of offenses, every body is copying and improving on what others are doing.

Oklahoma State used similar signs against Oregon in the 2008 Holiday Bowl, but the Ducks borrowed ideas from several teams and devised their own system. Much like the team took the spread-option offense and made it their own.

Re: You have NO class NC State
So, to sum up, when NC State modifies someone else's video, even when they at least know what the sun does in the east, that is completely classless, but when the SEC is caught totally copying Oregon, that's okay, because everyone borrows from everyone else. Uh huh, got it. Long live the SEC.
I guess what I am trying to say at this point...

By the way, my daughter really likes your tiger picture. So I guess the SEC has some redeemable qualities, although you probably didn't take the picture yourself. You probably copied it from Oregon or something. Anyway, cool picture.

No….not at all what I’m saying. You are comparing apples with oranges.Phalanx wrote:So, to sum up, when NC State modifies someone else's video, even when they at least know what the sun does in the east, that is completely classless, but when the SEC is caught totally copying Oregon, that's okay, because everyone borrows from everyone else. Let’s look at it in another way. Let’s say I wanted to write a novel, so I went out and purchased a bestselling novel from my local big box book store. I then went through page by page and copied it almost word for word, but I took special care to change the last word at the end of every third sentence and made sure I swapped out the character’s names for names more to my liking. I then change the title from “Angles and Demons” to “Demons and Angles.” Do you think I would get a publisher for my book? NO! OF COURSE NOT! Because if I did that I would be completely ripping off someone’s intellectual property.
Signal calls and offenses are different.
Someone a long time ago during a baseball games started using hand signals to communicate with a batter, eventually EVERYONE did it and that is okay. Same thing goes for the spread offense, you all didn't create, though you have come damn close to perfecting it, that is cool too.
I guess to "sum it up" I’m trying to say there is something utterly classless about stealing another's creative idea when it comes to music, literature, etc. but when it comes to sports and things associated with offensive/defensive schemes and the execution of such it’s kind of fair game. I don’t care if the video in question belonged to a SEC team , a PAC team, or even a little bitty SWAC team. The Narrative was the original work of someone and to steal it is classless plagiarism.
