Scout update on Beachum
We already know he's planning to announce his decision on September first. UO, Kansas lead.
But the interesting news is Beachum says teammate Chris Barnett and him are a package deal.

Pretty interesting. Barnett looks like he could be a good recruit too, so this could be a huge positive for the ducks.

Re: Scout update on Beachum
I've talked to each recruit. I think that statement "package deal" is totally inaccurate IMO. Barnett is hot to trot for Miami right now, with us being his second favorite school right now.
Beachum really likes us but I'm not sure if he has an Oregon offer. If he does it's definitely not at QB. I like Beachum think he can be valuable to our program. Barnett is going to be a STUD! Barnett will probably be a package deal with 2012 recruit LaDarrell McNeil. In fact I'm almost certain of it. Personally LeDarrell McNeill is probably the best of the three.

Re: Scout update on Beachum
Beachum doesn't have an offer but could get one if he visits soon. Oregon is looking for a thunder back and with the options of the 230+ pounders dwindling, I think Beachum could qualify for that role if the coaches think he's athletic enough.
You have to remember, once he's in college and on a weight program/diet program, they can mold him into what they want. Key is you can't teach that kind of speed at that size.
If Beachum gets an offer, he's a Duck I hear. That would go a long way in getting Barnett and McNeil. Barnett already has 10+ offers and is amongst the competition for the top TE in the country in the 2011 class.

Be interesting to see if Barnett passes up Sefarian-Jenkins as top TE next year. Both excellent athletes, both have high duck interest.
Barnett's dad is the coach of the team he and Beachum are on. Just FYI.

Difference is Barnett is a pure TE. ASF could project equally at OT as he does at TE which is very, very rare.

Is Beachum planning a visit to Oregon anytime soon or is he going to wait until the official visits are available this fall?

Fair enough, this quote from scout kinda had me believing the package deal was legit:jhopduck wrote:I've talked to each recruit. I think that statement "package deal" is totally inaccurate IMO. Barnett is hot to trot for Miami right now, with us being his second favorite school right now.

"Wherever I go he'll go," Beachum informed. "Yeah, it's a package deal.”
I love Beachum's versatility, I really hope we can land him.

Re: Scout update on Beachum
As per an Espn update a week or go or so, it said that Oregon and Florida, not Kansas, are the two schools leading for his service. I've also seen conflicting reports as to whether or not he has an Oregon offer. At any rate, I'd love to see us land him, and I think we'd be fools to not at least give him a look at QB, although I think he eventually ends up a DT.

With the right training and conditioning, I believe Beachum could be part of the Duck "Blitzkreig" formation... More frightening and powerful than any ordinary "Thunder and Lightning".

I would be happy with a RB class of Grant, Beachum, and Hayes. That would be the bomb-diggity.yeahboyd wrote:I believe he said that the coaches were talking about rb in a previous scout article

I hope we offer him he seems like a beast that could push people around and then burn them. What do you think the chances of us offering is?
