Most important position for the Ducks to recruit this year
Just thought I would get some opinions from people in this forum. I personally feel Defensive Tackle is very important for us this class. We seem to be relying on undersized DTs or JC transfers to fill the middle. So far it hasn't hurt us. But I would like to see us get more big, young bodies in the middle of our defense. If you have good DTs it allows your defense to be much more creative because the middle of line is held down. Anyway, what do you guys think?

Oregon needs to land at least one dominant DT... Hopefully an intelligent fast/nimble kid with good size and a bad attitude (As in mean/aggressive on the field). 2 would be even better. Controlling the middle opens up all sorts of possiblities for the rest of the defense.
Undersize is bad enough, but being able to move the feet fast enough to get out of his own way is almost as important, IMO.

I agree completely. I have been waiting for a true presence up the middle since Haloti left. We have filled the middle ok since his departure but we haven't seen a dominant presence.woundedknees wrote:Oregon needs to land at least one dominant DT... Oregon needs to land a top 5 RB in this class. Other than that I would agree
that DT is a concern as well.

I would like to see the DL mirror the OL in terms of depth and talent. Freshman prospects each year that can be further developed and coached up. Still, I don’t see how they can’t take a JC DT this time around just for the depth.
A close 2nd in priority of recruits-Big RB

It would have been very interesting to witness one more season with Haloti and Igor on the line at the same time... It could have been Brute Force Domination.

You really think it's Lattimore or bust?RuhlandAsherBestEver wrote:Oregon needs to land a top 5 RB in this class. Other than that I would agree

I know! I always wished we could have seen that. Running up the middle would have been impossible.
Too bad.

I don't! I think it would be great to find a 5* back but I would settle for a four star like grant and a solid 3 * prospect. People get to involved in the ratings (I am guilty as well). Our system utilizes the potential of guys like JJ, a 3* prospect.Tray Dub wrote:You really think it's Lattimore or bust?RuhlandAsherBestEver wrote:Oregon needs to land a top 5 RB in this class. A highly touted safety to take over for Ward would be nice

I believe that to take this team to the next level we must prove
that we can land 4 and 5 star guys. Has Oregon made a living with
under the radar guys sure no doubt. I just think if we want to contend
for NC every year we must find a way to get it done. Great players want
to play with other great players.

Re: Most important position for the Ducks to recruit this year
As long as Grant stays commited then I'd say DT for sure if he decommits then I think RB. Our RB next year looks like this...
James
Alston............and thats it other then walk ons. Just get Lattimore and Uko and I'll be alright

Since Blount is gone after this season, maybe recruiting a top JC running back should be a top priority. I also agree that a DT would be nice.
