Hey does anyone else think that our defensive recruiting might improve if we continue to having seasons where the time of possession is so lopsided?
I remember hearing about how Pat Chung played (possibly) the most downs in college football through his career from coach Neal. All that playing time worked out pretty well for him and Byrd and Reed. Hey, recruits love hearing about playing time and at Oregon "We play the most defense in the country. Literally." "We play hard and ALOT." We usually have better players on the offensive side because our offense has been very appealing but now with the TOP, the defense might have something appealing to sell to recruits.
Is this a legitimate pitch to use in recruiting?

Defensive recruiting and TOP
Stewart Mandel-"From a purely aesthetic standpoint, I much prefer to watch a good spread-rushing offense over a traditional Power-I offense, and Oregon's has been the most fun by far for the past several years. It's fast, its precise, and when Chip Kelly has the right quarterback (Dixon, Masoli) at the helm, the possibility of someone ripping off a 60-yard run exists on nearly every play."

I don't think this pitch brings in recruits. I think the facilities, fans and coaches will make the biggest difference. I think we have more to sell kids on then how plays the defense is on the field every game. Though I could be wrong.

I think we need to sell these kids on the idea of being the guys that make Oredgon's D as dominant as the O.

Sell them on the D taking the black jerseys from the high powered O in practice - something 10 teams could not do in games last year.woundedknees wrote:I think we need to sell these kids on the idea of being the guys that make Oregon's D as dominant as the O.
