I look back on it as a big turning point or bad harbinger of things to come..but Chip left, Peterson came in, and Peterson flipped Baker during the dead period.
Anyone with any insight on what actually went down? Heard stuff about a girlfriend, family, shady Bellevue coaches..all rumors.
What actually went down?

I only know what was apparent on the surface- He got a lot of pressure to stay home from the community and I believe a girlfriend. His mom had a medical condition of some sort, so even though she could travel to Eugene, Seattle was obviously easier. Peterson's staff did a good job of recruiting him.
We ended up getting Charles Nelson out of the deal. Not the end of the world.

I think it was a variety of things, including: the undefeated recruiter, wanting to stay close to his brother's prison, local pressure, his indecisiveness on which side of the ball to play on and the Oregon coaches pitching offense.GrantDuck wrote:I look back on it as a big turning point or bad harbinger of things to come..but Chip left, Peterson came in, and Peterson flipped Baker during the dead period.

It seemed to have worked out for him, but how awesome would it have been to have him back at safety the past two seasons?

Under the previous defensive staff he probably wouldn't have developed like he did at UW. Looking back he made the right call.GoDucksTroll wrote:I think it was a variety of things, including: the undefeated recruiter, wanting to stay close to his brother's prison, local pressure, his indecisiveness on which side of the ball to play on and the Oregon coaches pitching offense.GrantDuck wrote:I look back on it as a big turning point or bad harbinger of things to come..but Chip left, Peterson came in, and Peterson flipped Baker during the dead period.

Yea, would've really helped at safety... but he would've played slot receiver.

And Budda wanted to play defense, but our staff wanted him on offense.StevensTechU wrote:Yea, would've really helped at safety... but he would've played slot receiver.
Just another thing that pushed him to Washington.
