So now that this class is in the books...

Post by Duck24 »

How are people feeling about it? You have to give Taggart and co props for what they did in less than two months but I feel a bit of a letdown by missing Artis, Falo and Falaniko. More than anything I can't wait to see what they do with a full year to work. Thoughts?

totally agree. They basically had 6 weeks and did one hell of a job. Yes, there are some disappointments but given the situation they should be commended.

My goal is to always have the best class in the conference outside of California, and we accomplished that easily. The fact that we outrecruited Washington is huge given the years we've had.

how quick some of these commits get on the field, how much they contribute will only really
tell how this class is. On paper this is a pretty good class considering. Would have been nice to
pull in a couple from sc. I am not let down what so ever. I really didnt think we would do as well.
Now they can start working on the next class. This will determine some things. This was not a quick fix.
This staff was not in 2 months going to pull in 5 stars. I think there are some players that are gonna
play right away on defense.

Very impressed, given the circumstances. WT and staff did a phenomenal job, and I'm excited to see what they can do in 2018.

Didn't Taggart say in his midday interview that he expected three more recruits?

1. Lenoir
2. ???
3. ???

I love this class as it is, but are we actually done? I didn't hear Taggart's interview first-hand, so maybe it was represented incorrectly?
Willie Taggart is a dick.

The class is about a B+/B since they missed out at TE and DE/OLB. Otherwise, this class hit on nearly every position of need. Getting a top-20 class after a 4-8 season is better than I bet most people thought it'd be.

For what it's worth, I would add an asterisk to "in the books." Late signings and eligibility issues happen.

I think it will be a good class is the DL guys coming in either start or contribute heavily and get lots of playing time.

With Lenoir's commitment, Oregon moved into the top-20 classes of all three recruiting sites.

Very good class in my opinion, a top 20-25 ranking on all of the sites, addressed most of the areas of need and got some big bodies and athleticism, something these coaches wanted. Given the short period of time to build relationships and all of the circumstances the only miss is obviously not getting a TE. Artis to Baylor is a dissapointment considering what that program is facing but otherwise a better than good class. The #1 athlete in Lenoir and the #1 OL JUCO guy I would say is pretty good. The sky is not falling that is for sure.

Just how I would have graded them, solid class a solid "B". Which is very good for the wreck the program was in just a few months ago. New head coach, no assistant coaches on board yet. a screw up by both players and coaches which put the Ducks in the national spotlight for sending three to the hospital........ and a dumb move by Reaves. I don't know if I can give Willie total credit for this but Freeman, Crosby, Nelson and (I believe) Carrington coming back....Solid B+, not an A only because we missed on a couple. I'm very happy and impressed with Willie and staff....need to continue with a solid replacement for the drunk. Bring on spring Ball!
