Mike Farrell Weekly Whispers

Greensboro (N.C.) Northern Guilford athlete Keenan Allen is a heavy lean to Alabama. Oregon once was a strong player here, but things went sour after the Ducks' season-opening loss at Boise State. It appears to be only a matter of time before Allen pulls the trigger to Alabama.
...
Four-star defensive end Gabe King has moved from Greensboro, N.C., to South Eugene (Ore.) High after being ruled ineligible to play in North Carolina. He also has apparently backed off a potential commitment to Cal. At one point, the Bears were his leader, but now it appears Alabama and Oregon are slightly higher on his list.

that sucks
you would think Allen would be a stronger UO lean after the turn around. Guess we need to hope ALA loses a game.

Not looking good for Allen at all. DT and Alabama's ESPN site are reporting he's all Alabama's.

is he still going to visit? seems like having 3 of your best friends most likely going to oregon would help a little bit plus im pretty sure his coach was in town last weekend again.

There is still a bitter taste in a lot of peoples mouths....If the ducks finish 10-2 and make it to the Rose Bowl I'm sure the ducks will be tasting a little better then...
Stewart Mandel-"From a purely aesthetic standpoint, I much prefer to watch a good spread-rushing offense over a traditional Power-I offense, and Oregon's has been the most fun by far for the past several years. It's fast, its precise, and when Chip Kelly has the right quarterback (Dixon, Masoli) at the helm, the possibility of someone ripping off a 60-yard run exists on nearly every play."

I wonder how the announcement of the potential reinstatement pact between CK and LGB is playing out with Running Back candidates?

I keep thinking that we were "strong leans" for many players who ended up elsewhere the last few years. It ain't over yet, folks. Just cross your fingers!

Re: Mike Farrell Weekly Whispers
I heard Mops talking on Sports Talk with Steve Tannen on 95.3 in Eugene and he mentioned a WR by the name of Talir (sp?) Johnson. I haven't been able to find him in any of the databases and wondering if he confused the last name with the previous recruit he was talking about, Storm Johnson. He said he got the information from a writer who covers Notre Dame.

I am sure Allen ends up at Alabama.
But I would be happy to get 3 of the 4 (Scales, McCain and King) so hopefully he doesn't talk King into following him there.

Johnson is a 4 star WR who committed to Stanford. He's considering a visit to Oregon.greenyellow wrote:I heard Mops talking on Sports Talk with Steve Tannen on 95.3 in Eugene and he mentioned a WR by the name of Talir (sp?) Johnson. Storm Johnson is not the WR he was referring too.

The WR in question is named 4 star prospect, Tai-ler Jones, of Gainesville, Georgia... And yes, that is the correct spelling. 6'/183/4.46. He is currently committed to the Furd.

Re: Mike Farrell Weekly Whispers
I think that the way he pronounced Tai-Ler Jones' first name threw me off a bit. Plus Mops saying the wrong last name didn't help either. Getting Jones out here would be big, but have a hard time believing he will turn down a chance to go to Stanford. He did say that Storm Johnson is a big RB that is interested in taking a visit; said his running style and skills are in-between Jonathan Stewart and Jeremiah Johnson.UOducksTK1 wrote:Johnson is a 4 star WR who committed to Stanford. Re: Mike Farrell Weekly Whispers
I have come to the conclusion that I don't want to be on pins & needles waiting for an 18 year old to pick us at the last second because he wants to get on national tv by picking some hat.
I know it's exciting, but I would take 100 of those kids that are sitting by the fax machine on letter of intent day desperate to gets theirs sent in first. Those are the kids I want!!! Prima donas can go elsewhere as far as I'm concerned because I love to watch the kids that are all about the team & not themselves.
