A comment on "negative posts"...

Don't post here much, didn't post much on c4q, but love the daily updates, info and rumors. That said I have no idea how much my opinion will matter, but I felt like I should voice myself when it comes to alot of these "negative" posts, and the subsequent pages denouncing the "negaduck".

I certainly empathize with readers who get annoyed by the "I'll believe it when I see it" or the "maybe but it's just a rumor...how good are your sources?" posts... Generally these show up in threads with new, exciting, and generally good news posts from MOPS or another insider hearing positive info to be passed on. So when the emotional high from all the hopeful good news slams into somebody being skeptical it bursts the good news bubble... Definitely no fun for anyone, and, like I said, annoying.

THAT SAID, I don't feel that any of these posters are off-base to feel this way (so long as they aren't being actually negative). I think the thing that we easily forget is that these are 16, 17, and 18 year old kids. Sure they're talented, sure we want them on our team, sure they don't seem like immature, impressionable, skinny, less-than-fully-developed kids when we recruit and play with them in video games, but the reality is that these are still very young men. Relationship studies have suggested that there really shouldn't be such a thing as "cheating" (in relationships) for most people until they reach their 20s, because teenagers simply aren't always emotionally ready enough for committed and devoted relationships. I think some of the same can be said for these recruits...

Take Tahj Boyd for example. The kid has committed to 3 schools already and changed his mind? Granted one pulled his scholly, but clearly the young man hasn't made a solid decision in any way yet. Just thinking about how much amazing 'stuff' gets thrown at these elite athletes (who are often from less fortunate families) at every visit... girls, booze, parties, clothes, food, free school, it's no wonder they ALWAYS have good things to say about every visit and so often have issues deciding which school to attend.

So my point of all that is this... If you're one to get stoked with all the good info flowing the Ducks way lately then go for it! Its exciting to think about a Boyd/Brown backfield in a few years, BUT, I also don't think there's anything wrong with people pointing out the fact that, until we see them in a Ducks Jersey, they're not Ducks yet. Certainly we ALL hope they will be.

I suppose that is all. GO DUCKS!

But dude, this information would have been SO incredibly valuable back when I was in school:

I think it's really easy to get overexcited when rivals, espn, scout, mops, etc. get us good sounding info. While this is certainly good pub, and unquestionably a sign that things here are improving on the recruiting front, the reality of these kids having the ability, right, and presupposition to change their minds is alot less exciting.
