I'll dust off my rosary beads, Tums and special brownies and give it a look.

So thanks to a 782-10 points in the paint advantage here in the middle of the second half, I am going to put down the beads, and save the tums for next game.

Nice to see a balanced, well-shooting offense tonight where they got to rest the starters plenty and the bench got a bunch of playing time. We'll see how this carries over to the Baylor game on Saturday though.

Notes from the game:
1. I’m a bit confused at our starting lineup and don’t agree with it at all. It’s probably Altman just tinkering with different lineups but not a big fan. How is Williams not starting? Why isn’t #11 getting more run?
2. Our zone was horrendous throughout the game. I think we ran a couple different versions but whatever it was, it didn’t work. Partially cuz our guys weren’t on the same page (bad and/or no communication) and we were slow getting back after they broke the press. And partially cuz the way the defense was designed allowed for N’faly to be isolated out on the perimeter multiple times. That should never happen. I understand the need to run zone to hide our bigs’ ability to track guards, but the zone needs to keep them in the paint.
3. We have three 7-footers with skill on offense. That is rare. If we can’t take advantage of their size on offense, they are a net liability due to their inability to guard quick guards in pick & roll. So we gotta figure out a way to get them more involved in the offense early in the game otherwise we are wasting time. If we end up moving towards an offense that gets the bigs more involved (which I would recommend), we need to have everyone work on their entry passes. we stink at that.
5. N’faly showed more coordination than i’ve seen before from him on offense. Still has a long way to go in learning how to pass out of double teams, but a good sign for his development..
4. Harmon plays like an energetic freshman. That's mostly bad.
6. We don’t have a constant go-to threat unlike the prior 3 years (Duarte last year and PP the two years before). This is going to problematic when the offense is struggling and we need a bucket from our go-to guy to get some energy going. Will Rich just hasn’t developed at all since his Sophomore year otherwise he’d be the natural fit here.
7. What’s up with Williams? Altman isn’t starting him and he played on auto-pilot the entire night. He made no effort to get involved in the game, and was jogging most the game. Haven’t seen that before. Wonder what’s going on….

Williams is still coming back from a leg injury that has limited him for much of the past week or so. He was basically a game time decision for Stanford and it seems they were limiting him in the Portland game so he'd be available for Baylor.

What 8 teams did Portland beat? They didn't look to good the other night.
