Lakers 2000 1st
Celtics trade:
Isaiah Rider
I accept, I had two offers a little better than this but both fell through. Don’t wanna deal with Rider expiring. I like the future first and #15.
Good trade goat.

If this is 1996, than 2000 is only 4 years out….

Well technically as soon as draft is over, 2000 is 4 years away. So kinda a limbo state. I think as soon as playoffs ended, 2000 went from 5 years out to 4.

That’s what I would say, technically trades don’t affect teams until the next season, so currently 4 seasons away is 2000 in my eyesUOducksTK1 wrote:Well technically as soon as draft is over, 2000 is 4 years away. You might think this is a minor thing, but it affects FA. If this trade doesn't get processed until after the draft is over then matching salaries is an issue. The Lakers are forced to roster an extra $2.2 million in salary with the #15 pick. His FA money is then around $10.5 million and can't afford a max contract for a lot of players. For those of you considering making max contract offers to players, then it makes a difference.
It also means that when I was making trade offers to other teams earlier in the draft, I could've offered 2000 and I didn't because I thought that was out of bounds, but that's a minor issue.

Re: Lakers / Celtics
yeah I agree with 76ers, this trade isn't valid according to the rules.
Probably can't unwind it now because the pick was made unless we want to unwind the last 3 picks, but it is an obvious circumvention of the rules.
There is no argument that it is 4 years out, because the trade involves a pick this year, meaning you are covering 5 drafts worth of picks.
I think at the very least going forward there shouldn't be any deals like this.
There is a pretty good argument that Ownage should consider a punishment of some kind on both teams for making a deal that is illegal and then making the picks before it was actually approved. The other option is that Lakers are forced to make the pick for Celtics and make the trade final during FA.

Re: Lakers / Celtics
Agreed cellar. It is pretty egregious especially in light of the Celtics/Lakers hoping it would go unnoticed because it was close enough to reaching the 4yr rule.
Since it can't be overturned, I think a reasonable suggestion is that we auction the 15th pick, or maybe release it into FA for other teams to bid on. The question is what should be done with the 2000 1st round pick? I suppose that should be forfeited and that the Celtics just don't get to the rights to it...? Any other ideas? Maybe a poll?
Sad day for DASL.

Technically the "season" ends in FBB after the Finals is over, so I think the 2000 1st rounder is fine...

Re: Lakers / Celtics
Ownage, can you make it Lakers 99 1st. Then I'll swap his 2000 for his 99 after the draft is over.
I'm not a cheater like the Nets or Blazers.

You are correct. But I don't want to even play in the gray area. I like asterisk free championships.offtheheezy wrote:Technically the "season" ends in FBB after the Finals is over, so I think the 2000 1st rounder is fine...
