Ohio State is too poor these days apparently, lol
Not unexpected and I'm sure the Nike money helped...
Hard to compete with billionaire money. Oregon got McNutt, Brew and now Offord as a result. All 3 were major targets for OSU this cycle.
Right. Lanning is a good coach but they are where they are right now in large part because of Phil Knight.

For some recruits, relationships and development are still higher on the priority list than money, but I don't necessarily fault 18 year olds for taking as much guaranteed money as they can get. I do think that over time, many fans will be turned off to the sport if there are never any regulations in place though.
It’s all about the money. Nobody would otherwise go to Eugene. My son lives there as an architect. It’s a dump. Not much of a college other than Nike money.
How the f*** does this staff mess up losing 2 in-state 5 stars and the 5 star whom had been committed for 10 months. Seriously. Every signing day we drop several spots and haven’t been a top 3 class since 2021.
At least Sanders is postponing his decision, unlike Offord. Offord just flat out displayed zero class by his 10 month “100% committed to Ohio State” lie. Sanders shows at least a bit more class, due diligence, what have you, by delaying his process. So if I have to choose a character… I choose Sanders
This one specific flip doesn't hurt us because of Sanchez and who we got last year...but this is now just a trend that Oregon is a new power house that is built on Nike money and here to stay. Very concerning.

Quite hilarious they're going on about Nike $ given they had what, a $10 million NIL payroll this year?

$20+ million is what has been widely reported for the Ohio State NIL, for what it is worth.

I find it funny that Ohio State fans are hating on Offord and saying he only cares about NIL money and doesn’t care about coaching or relationships while simultaneously HATING Ryan Day and thinking very highly of Dan Lanning (even see some of the posters over think they have a chance at stealing Lanning from us). That’s a special fanbase over there in Columbus.

Not an attempt to hijack this thread but you wanna see some vitriol, go to the UW boards.

Besides being in meltdown mode over the helmet smashing they are secretly in serious envy of Oregon’s recruiting class and rolling out all their best ‘Phil Knight is paying way more than NIL $$$ to these guys ‘ lines.

It’s pretty comical actually. One of them labeled Lanning ‘ dork’. How long has it been since anyone used that descriptor???

I found myself feeling a little sorry for them and hoping their ‘Oregon envy’ doesn’t consume them.

Looks like they are assuming the little brother role without the Beavs in conference.
