What positions need transfer portal help?

Curious what everyone thought.

I use this as a reference for our current state: https://chileduck.com/oregon/depthchart.html

Not knowing who leaves from the expected 2-deep...

3 OL at least with Center, Guard and Tackle and possibly a QB but the OL has been a known issue for next year because you can't just pencil in Ihenacho even if the hope is that he can play early like Penei.

At least 1 premier DL, LB and possibly an Edge in addition to any "would start anywhere" like Dillon that pops up otherwise I think you've got an ideal DB room between returning talent and letting guys get their chance.

I'm similar. I think P and OL and LB are probably my biggest concerns.

Is there a chance Bear Alexander stays for a year? But yeah if he leaves along with Washington, probably want someone with more experience in there.

Edge is interesting because I do believe Purchase is ready to start. Wyatt and Porter played in every game, and don't forget Elijah Rushing. And add Tank Jones to that list too. So it is possible if these guys continue developing this offseason, edge may not be a big point of concern. We'll see!

Which guys do you think are gray area on an NFL decision?

I don't think we'll lose any DBs to the Portal but I think there's a chance a few of the players we might expect to "compete for a job/first backup" in that front 7 could end up at Cal. Matayo and Teitum are the 2 guys Defensively I have no idea what to expect from and think it will come down entirely to the Playoffs. If all goes right for us a few of these guys are going to play themselves into the Draft.

If Bear returns (I think AW is gone based on most draft projections with him in the Top 75) we could be in a pretty good spot at DT with Bear, Green, Breeland and Gray as a 4-man rotation inside,

AW - Gone as a Top 5 DT
Bear - Returns
Iapani - Gone as the #1 Gap blocking Center.
Matayo/Stewart - They go how their Playoff performances go
Tuioti - Returns
Moore - In real NIL money terms as far as what it will cost to keep Moore vs what a NFL team will be guaranteed to pay him next year, we're talking at least 15M so I think he's gone.

NFL mock draft database averages...

1st Round:
Washington, Uiagalelei, Moore

2nd/3rd Round:
Poncho

4th/5th Round:
Alexander

UDFA:
Tuioti
Stewart

I think at this point Washington and Uiagalelei are gone.

Moore and Alexander and Poncho are maybes.

Stewart is the most unknown, but staying another year or transferring would make more sense then going to the NFL.

QB: yes if Moore leaves
RB: no
WR: maybe 1 if they lose a few to the portal and don't land Chris Henry Jr.

DE/EDGE: maybe 1
DL: 1-2

I also remember our LB coach says he doesn't like going to transfer portal and wants to get HS recruits to develop. So good chance we're stuck with what we have.

I do think we take anyone if they are of a certain caliber. Like if we can get the Coleman kid from Auburn at WR, that's a no brainer. If there's an elite nickel, I could see us taking them.

Getting OL right will be a big key with the new OC coming in.

PFF updated its draft rankings on Dec. 1st. I know differing opinions on PFF (especially their game grading); but, it is more info to chew on.

257 draft picks last year

It rated Oregon's Draft Eligible Players:

13. Sadiq (1st)
27. Moore (late 1st)
39. Washington (early 2nd)
49. Uiagalelei (2nd)
59. Thieneman (late 2nd)
91. Pregnon (late 3rd)
130. Bear (late 4th/early 5th)
154. World (late 5th)
240. Poncho (late 7th)
304. Whittington (UFA)

At center they have:

Connor Lew (Auburn): 33rd
Jake Slaughter (Florida): 66th
Logan Jones (Iowa): 190th
Parker Brailsforth (Alabama): 212th
Iapani Laloulu (Oregon): 240th
Connor Tollison (Missouri): 280th

Since 2010, only 5.7 centers average being drafted per year.

Logan Jones at 190, just wtf are they smoking at PFF?

He's the top Zone Center that I've watched this year.
