A lot of notable player not in the transfer portal yet. Luke Moga, Da'Jaun Riggs, Makhi Hughes, Jayden Limar, to name a few.

Probably the first one that doesn’t make sense. I’m sure the hit and run incident is looming over him still. So maybe that’s it?

But he’s next in line so I’m confused…

Not much of a shock there. Wish I could understand what happened to him though. Just not as good as advertised I guess

The amount of secondary players is pretty surprising. Is this the first year where we’re losing players the staffed really wanted to keep?

On3 ranked out portal guys. Honestly I don’t think we have lost anyone ever wanted to keep. There was a reason Dan recruited so many DBs this last cycle

Austin Novosad - 3 stars / rank 511th / 44th QB
Kyler Kasper - 3 stars / rank 991st / 158th WR
Lipe Moala - 3 stars / rank 506th / 37th IOL
Kingston Lopa - 3 stars / rank 288th / 20th S
Sione Laulea - 3 stars / rank 843rd / 96th CB
Justius Lowe - 3 stars / rank 807th / 132nd WR
Solomon Davis - 3 stars / rank 1139th / 124th CB
Dakoda Fields - 3 stars / rank 281st / 28th CB
Jahlil Florence - 3 stars / rank 343rd / 33rd CB
Daylen Austin - TBD
Jay Harris - TBD

Any intel from anyone? I've added the few targets I'm aware of but isn't much. Without the coaching staff cemented and a semifinal game on the docket, what a crazy period for the coaching staff. My hope/expectation is that Malchow and staff are primarily handling the transfer portal as this is what they do, not on field activities.

Lanning said he met with 2 potential portal guys yesterday. But no one is saying who they are.

The Coaches/Staff knew the Portal was going to be these dates and they HAD to have planned to be juggling these roles but maybe not as much with both Lupoi and Stein leaving.

I also have found transfer portal rankings a bit odd. How are they ranking Dakota Fields? Former four star ranked #110 nationally. Nice size for a college CB: 6-2 and 200. Didn't appear at all last year, I think only played at the end of the Montana State game this year. No one sees practice. Did they break down the Spring game and put the fact he didn't play at Oregon yet into a super formula that accurately incorporates all variables to determine exactly how deeply to drop him into the 3 star pool?

I guess Brew and probably Offord are now 3 stars too? What if Dillon Grisham enters, didn't play his freshman year and has been out all this year. How much of a three star is he? Laulea at 843 is just a whiff. Before his first injury, I saw PFF had him like 5th in the B1G among all B1G CBs in coverage grade, one spot behind Finney, with Ify and Johnson not listed (that is after getting an 85.1 coverage grade in limited action last year). I'm reasonably sure if healthy next year he would have pushed hard for CB2 and played rotationally if CB3, and I feel very good about Ify (with Offord of course likely being figured in). Few gave much more than a shrug when Roderick Pleasant left Oregon, and I'm sure he was dropped to a mid/low 3 star as well. Every account I saw he was UCLA's best CB this year and got some HM All-B1G run in some spots.

You'd think the portal rankings would be better than high school and juco, but they're not. They just don't allocate enough resources. You'd have to ask your employees who cover specific teams to maintain ratings for the active roster and then that's what it is when they go into the transfer portal, otherwise you're trying to evaluate 2,000 players suddenly and that's just not happening.
