WR Evan Stewart returning for 2026

Post by greenyellow »

WR Evan Stewart has officially announced he'll be back in 2026. Oregon's WR room will be stacked next season. To only lose Sadiq and Thieneman to the draft might be one of Lanning and Malchow's best offseason championships ever.

I'm having difficulty getting excited about this. It's nice to have depth, but thus far Stewart's Oregon tenure has been largely underwhelming. When I think about the difference in hype level between him and Malik Benson before they came to Oregon, and then how they performed when they got here, it's a pretty stark contrast.

Injuries have been a bummer with him. We don't beat Ohio State without him though. He absolutely burned Caleb Downs and that defense.

When he’s healthy, he’s an absolute difference maker.

Geez!! He had 48 catches for 613 in 2024 and 5 TDs. How is that underwhelming??

That made him the third-leading receiver on that team behind Tez and Traeshon. Like I said, nice depth, but he has been out a lot more than he has been in during his tenure at Oregon. Compare to Malik Benson who came in with little fanfare (and even got dogged by a few posters here) and had a better season than Stewart at 43 receptions for 719 yds and 6 Td's.

I hope Stewart comes back healthy and on a mission. I just don't think he has lived up to the hype so far.

I mean, you basically yourself just summed up why he hasn’t lived up to expectations. He’s been hurt much of the time he’s been here. When he’s been 100% healthy, he has definitely lived up to his hype. He shredded Ohio state and helped us win this game.

So Malik got dogged by a few poster and now you're doing the same to Stewart........ unbelievable

One particular poster has the most asinine theory known to man. Is that the reason?
