QUACK! Alabama PF Taylor Bol Bowen commits!

Post by UOducksTK1 »

If he plays like he did 2 years ago with Florida State (unlikely last year at Bama) + stays healthy, then this is a good addition!

Sorely-needed size. Well done, Coach. The team is starting to take shape.

Ducks still need a true center unless they're planning on playing Bowen or Stewart there, which isn't an ideal situation. Bowen fits more of the stretch 4 role (like Boucher or Bol Bol) who can play center at times in the right circumstances.

Yup! Still need:
-One more ball handler (preferrably a true starting PG)
-Another scorer (Mikey Lewis?)
-Another Center (Someone who can get us 15-20mpg)

And a couple other depth pieces who see garbage time minutes.

PG: ?/Jasper Johnson
SG: Tyrone Riley/Jasper Johnson/Seven Spurlock
SF: Andrew Meadow/Trevor Ariza/Seven Spurlock
PF: Sean Stewart/Pharaoh Compton/Taylor Bol Bowen/Kendre Harrison
C:?/Taylor Bol Bowen/

Making a depth chart. Our depth is certainly already looking better than last year, but man our starting lineup is not looking great. Riley so far looks like the only real Big Ten quality start IMO.

But if we can land this plane and finish this portal strong (Which I don't think we'll get Chol, but...):

PG: Divine Ugochukwu/Jasper Johnson/Mikey Lewis
SG: Mikey Lewis/Jasper Johnson/Seven Spurlock
SF: Tyrone Riley/Andrew Meadow/Trevor Ariza
PF: Sean Stewart/Pharaoh Compton/Taylor Bol Bowen/Kendre Harrison
C:Chol Machot/Taylor Bol Bowen/Sean Stewart

That is actually a pretty good roster considering we went from 0 to this.

Bowen and Compton could play center in certain lineups but they definitely need a stouter, full-time C. Don't think Machot fits that bill since he's so skinny but he was the CAA Defensive POTY so maybe he could.

Outside of Dante, seems like Altman has done better with a smaller lineup where a true PF like Jordan Bell plays C, so maybe Altman would forego a true C to find better guards to fit his system.

While I agree he's been successful without a true center or lots of height, having some guys over 6'10" would be nice when you're playing in the Big Ten. Much beefier rosters in general.
