5-star JC QB Cameron Newton
Just committed to Auburn, Rivals reports no offer from us... the guy is like a Terrelle Pryor clone. I'm wondering why we didnt offer him...?

Cameron Newton has tremendous talent, but huge off field issues in his background...
Risk/Reward ratio was probably a major factor for a lot of programs when considering the former Florida player.

When recruited, Newton was thought to be another Tim Tebow, before getting kicked off the Florida team for stealing a laptop from a fellow student at UF.

Im glad he didnt sign with Arizona. Thats a pretty impressive offer list for a JUCO QB with character blemishes.

Kind of amazed this question was even asked. Why bring in a JC QB when Masoli & Costa each have another year and Darren Thomas is the no brainer heir apparent starting in 2011? JCs are brought in to fill immediate needs primarily for the following season and sometimes to plug obvious holes that will likely exist 2 yrs out. No such issues exist for us at QB.

Masoli
Costa
Thomas
Hawkins
Bennett
That'll be the depth chart next year, with a possible switch between Thomas and Costa. Pretty good stuff, especially since Hawkins has been getting some rave reviews on the scout team.
Don't think we really need anymore depth at QB at this point and those 6-7 schollies left could be put to better use IMO, like a 3 star DB or LB who could develop into a Chung or WTIII. I'd rather have a guy like that for 4 years to develop than a possible character problem. Remember a lot of this team's success had to do with the team mentality as a whole and a few bad apples could really screw that up.

don't need more than 5 qb's and god knows we don't need a JC qb now. 2 sr. qb's next year means 2 qb's in next years class.hendrg wrote:Masoli
