Where we end up

Post by GoDucksIn09 »

I would like to know people's impression of this years recruiting class in terms of the Pac 10 after LOI. We all know USC will be tops of the Pac 10... again but where does Oregon fit in. I feel probably bout 6th or so. Not real impressive in my book compared to past years but am hopeful that it changes before next wednesday and we become top 3. Stanford sure looking good recruiting.

5th. currently we sit 6th per rivals updated today.
SC-stanford-UCLA-CAL-AZ state are ahead of us. In that order
The top 4 have 7 or more 4 stars committed. AZ state has 4 and we have 2 currently.
We leapfrog AZ state with Jackson and Gaines commits. Both of which are crucial to this class because of position and talent.
Otherwise we won't have the power to take down Cal and the others.
This is not a great class for Oregon, but transition took place and we still did well. Factor in coaching changes and academics changing, we maintained a good class and it will only improve from here IMO.

I believe that there's often a boost in recruiting during the first full year of a high profile coaching hire. It may be that we see an additional boost this coming season due to Chip Hype alone. Add to that the success of the program, an additional year of east coast recruiting experience and we could be in for a real hum-dinger in '10.

I agree guys this class will be good (may get even better by Feb 4th) but other schools have done well as well! Our class would have looked better with out the coaching changes and a couple of other factors but the best way to tell how good a class is by waiting at least 3 years to see who does what!

For all the turmoil we had with coaching changes & guys finding out they wouldn't get in here, I think we will end up looking pretty good. Throw in all those problems in a past recruiting year (before 2007) & we don't get anything near to this class. Good job by the coaches to get through the problems & still end up with a good class.

dthomas, bro I agree with what you said. I don't think there is any way in our past we could have ended up as well as we did. We are basically telling our recruits that the man that has lead us to the most success in the history of our program is stepping down and a somewhat unknown will be leading us. Now we all have fallen in love with Chip Kelly for obvious reasons and I think he will take us to places that 15 years ago we would never had dreamed of but wow for us to do as well as we did and to be in the running for one of the top QB's in the country as well as the #1 player in the country is nothing short of amazing............Go Ducks
