Strange, wonder if he was being used as pressure for Boyd to decide?

hmm. That's a possibility, it's probably not fun to be strung along and used as an 18 year old kid..

I think this kid would fit really well into Oregon's offense, I think he is underrated and it sounds like if the Ducks want him he is theirs. With the possibility for injury at the QB spot it would be wise for the Ducks to nab him, I think the Ducks have a good shot at a top QB next year, but they might as well create some depth at the position just in case. Maybe he will be a signing day surprise or maybe he was a pawn to put pressure on Boyd?

It's a bit odd that they wouldn't "call him back". MB would never just NOT call this kid back to ignore him. It's more likely they either can't call him back (rules), haven't received the phone message yet, or something of that nature. I have a very hard time believing that they are stringing this kid out. It's not in MB's character to do that and I would something else is going on. Someone is going to have to present me with some substatantial evidence that they used anyone as a "pawn".

I personally would prefer for them to pass on a QB this year, unless it's someone Boyd like. We have so many on our roster now and they will be sitting behind some talent. I think it's better to wait and get one of the top guys we want from 2010.

I don't believe that Oregon will sign a QB this year. It's really not that big of a need but I think that the recruiting services will look down on this year's class since there is no QB or possibly RB. I think that signing a QB is a must next season since after next season, we'll have 3 SR QBs and then Thomas with no one behind them. I don't think the coaches want to have only inexperienced players behind Thomas; they'll want someone who will have been in the system for at least a year so they could readily backup Thomas. I think the coaches may even bring in 2 QBs next season since all QBs don't work out and then could possibly be moved to another position.

The only reason to show him a little more love is the burgeoning "Florida Connection"... Doesn't mean he will be the savior of the Ducks... He could easily end up at as a backup safety or WR.

Isn't this a quiet period? Maybe that's why we won't get in touch with him.

He didn't look impressive at all in the short video I saw of him so no, I'm not surprised he wasn't offered. I hope we don't offer kids just to fill up our class. That would be pathetic.

Maybe this guy was someone who the MB and CK went after once they were starting to feel a bit put off some of the Boyd news that was coming out about tripping to Clemson, and in there haste they went after this kid. Once they finally sat and took a deep breath they relized they can relax and just get someone next year. Getting a QB is not of any importance this year.

I haven't seen video of him, but he was named "Mr. Football" or something like that in the State of Florida so he must have some skills. It sounds like he was more of a passer rather than a true dual threat. Either way, I hope this kid is handled properly regardless of offer.

I say we stay after him you can't save scholarships!

Since the Ducks are limited to honoring 25 LOIs per year, saving schollies makes little to no sense.
