Wow, this is precisely why I know our education system is in trouble. I looked at the figures, checked out the articles and then made my own conclusion, there is an obvious and strong correlation between rivals team rankings and performance of the programs over a number of years. Looking through the comments by people on the same page I am blown away by the fact they seem to just ignore the data, and claim it doesn't matter when ya get on the field. This is THE CASE only when the two teams are relatively close in total points but when the spread is big you should be betting on the team with the higher number of total points, they win close to 75% of the time. If ya want to be near the top year in and year out ya need to have talent for that type of program, period.

Lets try another area, thats not football where your not tied to the emotional allure of your team. The same thing holds up for predicting stock price movement. Valueline has had a ranking system for a huge number of years now based on a number of critical factors correlated with price movement. If ya wanted to do well you were better off betting on those stocks ranked 1 and should stay away from stocks ranked 5.

So as far a building a team or portfolio I suggest ya stick with best you can get, going after the diamond in rough is fine after you have struck out on the higher probability trades.
