David Oku needs more time - Any Chance of jumping in the mix
http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/recruitin ... itId=55134
ESPNU 150 David Oku of Carl Albert (Midwest City, Okla.), ranked No. 13 among running backs and No. 127 prospect overall in the Class of 2009, has decommitted from Tennessee.
Oku recently took official visits to Syracuse and Auburn, and is still considering the Vols. Citing a need for space to make a decision, the prospect is not taking calls from coaches and does not have plans to pick any team on Signing Day.
The highly-coveted ball-carrier had pledged to the Vols over Nebraska, Michigan, Florida State, Clemson and Louisville.
Sounds like he is confused. I am sure Chip could clear it up for him.

That makes sense, I could see why he wouldn't want to play in a top 5 rushing offense

David contacted the mods on DSA to try to get word to our coaches that he wanted to be recruited by us. The coaches didn't express any interest.

Yeah he has stated time and time again that he hates the spread/zone read. That would tell you how he feels about Oregon

He contacted our coaches last May or June and expressed interest but then later really cooled on us and there just wasn't interest from either side

I think mainly because Campbell wanted a big back this year.

He fits the same role as Lamichael James who we just got the year before. More of a smaller speed type back. Campbell only wanted a big back this year or none. I was really depressed that they didn't show any interest in Desarte Yarnaway. Supposedly our coaches didn't think too much and never offered. Speed concerns is all I heard about why.
I, personally don't care that much about speed in a power back. If he can rip off 4-5 yard chunks and plow a pile ahead for a couple at the goalline, who cares if he can't break 80 yarders like JJ? That's not his job.
Anyway, yeah, he posted on one of the mods' fanpage asking to put him in touch with the coaches. He eventually got through and the coaches basically told him, "thanks for the interest, but you're not really what we're looking for."

Oracle holy crap you were serious...I remember last summer I was hoping we'd get visit from him, man how things can change!
But I guess the coaches see that role not only filled by Alston, Crenshaw, LMJ and with Grant next year and all the other RB interest they probably didn't want to mess with 2010 recruiting class...
GO DUCKS!!
