Brown thinking of skipping college to play in CFL

Friend just called me and said to turn to ESPN, he said They were talking about how Brown is thinking about playing in the CFL instead of playing college ball. He said he would still attend college just not play.

This is old info. Butler was quoted as saying they would entertain offers from the CFL for 5mil per year. Problem is the salary cap for a whole team in the cfl is 4.2 mil...you do the math.

Brown reportedly has a core GPA around 3.5, and an ACT of 17. Sounds like he will qualify.

True but being Canadian I can say with certainty a CFL team won't spend that type of money (if they had it) on an unproven player. Remember this is a decent league where many NFL guys have gone up there thinking they'd tire the league up and then get picked up by an NFL team again but don't even make an impact...ie Ricky Williams is an example where he may be a good back here but he couldn't even take the starting role up there. That being said BB is a great talent but he hasn't proven anything yet!

Even though it's old info and completely unlikely, it illustrates just how shaky he may be on the idea of going to Miami...and anyone else for that matter. Sounds like he's really up in the air. Of course what do I know, I never subscribed to the Bryce Brown site. Guess it's free now, but what would I get out of that.

Not really in this case...if a teams has a 4.2 mil cap for the whole team (every player) then money does not talk that loud if they are looking for 5 mil...DO U C Y

You guys really think that an 18 year old kid could take a season of hits by grown men. i am sorry there is only a very very small number of 18 years old in the history of College football that could take hits from the players in CFL. those guys are no joke. BB would get murder it would be the worst thing he could do to his "NFL" career. now maybe he could play in the afl.

Seriously? You really think there's that much of a difference between USC's defense and the Edmonton Eskimos? We're not talking about your average 18 year olds... These ARE grown men. BB could definitely take the hits in the CFL.

This must be sarcasm...I hope! USC defense is great for college level talent but they are not professional team and they could not compete with any Pro level competition! Watch a little CFL before you make a comment and while it ain't the NFL its many steps above collegiate level competition!

I've watched a tiny bit of CFL, but can't say I'm an expert. That being said, USC's defense is absolutely as good as some professional teams. Most of their starters get drafted for the NFL! That's pretty good evidence for my argument. If they can get drafted after the season, they could certainly play on a CFL defense during the season. Of course I'm generalizing a bit, but whatever. The CFL is for players that can't cut it in the NFL, but are still good enough to be pros. Most of USC's defense CAN cut it in the pros.

Really, do you think players get THAT much better after they get out of college? I'm not saying they don't improve, but you're talking as if once a player gets to the professional level, they automatically get way better, even if they're in the CFL.
