Oregon @ Stanford

Post by UOducksTK1 »

Thu, Jan 27 Stanford * - at Stanford, Calif. - Maples Pavilion 7:00 p.m.

Well if we can beat the Beavers on the road, no reason we can't beat the Cardinal. If we could split this bay area series, that'd be sweet.

Seems this team is starting to gel, somewhat... As hard as they are working, this could be a fun ride yet.

'Furd's not terrible, I think they're actually above .500, unlike our Beaver friends. We haven't won it Maples since, like, the 1980s, though. I'd s*** myself if we broke that streak with THIS team.

If there is any season for us to break the streak in the bay area, I think this might be it.

Better teams than this year's team have failed down there before so I don't have a lot of faith. It's the one road trip curse that needs to be ended. The only saving grace for this year is that both Bay Area teams are down a bit and vulnerable.

Our second Elite Eight team couldn't even win down there against what (I think, who can remember all the way back to 2007?) was a pretty blah Stanford team. I wouldn't say this is the year of all years it's likely to end, considering our terribleness and all. And Stanford's not a bad team. They've had worse the past couple years.

Wow, a win in the bay area. Looks like this team is starting to gel. It's amazing what a team can do with a good coach.

Dana Altman continues to impress. This team has very little talent, yet Altman gets the most out of his players and is clearly a very good defensive coach. How refreshing is it to have a good x's and o's coach?

Have to give some credit to Garrett Sim - a guy I've been down on all year. I was "box score watching", but Sim hit 4 clutch free throws at the end of the game. For the second straight game, he was solid offensively. Let's hope that this continues.

Really excited about the future of Oregon basketball.

I hope that the fans continue to support the team, even in down times like this.
“If everybody in this room just want to be real with themselves, this game could have went either way,” he said. “We turned the ball over a lot. We beat ourself. Just be real with yourself right now. We beat ourself.”

I've stayed pretty quiet on the bball front, mainly because my expectations were so low, but seeing as the game was in my neck of the woods I decided I'd go have a look at the squad. Lots of heart and effort; which is indescribably refreshing to see.
