Re: Portland @ Oregon (1 game series)
UP is very good. And that's not me doing my reverse-karma jinx like I do on the hoops board all the time, the Pilots are legit. They'll be the WCC representative in the NCAA Tournament, book it. So far, they're 4-0, with a 3-game sweep of Middle Tennessee State (6-5; 2-1; 11-8) and a 7-2 win over George Fox. They've had 3 games rained out on them already, including Friday and Saturday's games against George Fox.
They've got a 3-game series at Seattle U next weekend, but since they didn't play much this week, I'm wondering if they may try to squeeze 5 innings out of their usual #2 or #3 starter against us. Their coach may be an old-school guy who would never think of pitching a weekend guy mid-week, I have no idea. Just a thought on my part.
Regardless, they've got good pitching. They had a freshman who shut us down 3-1 last year on an OSN-telecast home game, though we returned the favor 4-2 up in PDX.

What? The Pilots beat my George Fox Bruins?
When you graduate from the mighty George Fox U, you are likely either a Duck or a Beaver fan.

Good thing PK Park is able to handle lots of rain since it'll be pouring.

Nice to see Serna back as he may be able to jumpstart the offense with him back at the top of the order.cordy02c wrote:serna will be back for this game and keudell will get the start

Good to hear on both counts. Props to Aaron Jones, though, for doing so well in the lead-off spot in Serna's absence. It sure as heck wasn't a lack of production from the top of the order that hurt our offense, Jones did great. Pushing Jones down the line will only help us, and hopefully Alto will break out of his slump as he goes back to his comfort zone at 3B.cordy02c wrote:serna will be back for this game and keudell will get the start

Weather's been dry most of the day (and it's a surprising 57 degrees at the moment) and it doesn't appear that rain is expected until about 9-ish. Should be able to get this one in.

Its clear/dry on the coast right now but the clouds are rolling in.
If someone could provide a link for those of us who get hindered from watching Oregon games because we don't have Comcast because its not availabe, i'd be happy camper.
ARGH. I love my University but some of the TV deals they've made have been frustrating. There is zero reason to alienate large portions of the state from watching games simply because Comcast doesn't do business in those areas. And no, O-Zone sucks, so don't go there.

No link, sorry. I'm watching it on ozone, and you're right, it does suck.

1-0 Pilots, bot 1. Kuedell's having trouble locating his pitches, walked the first batter, lucked out on a DP to clear the bases, then lofted a fastball in the middle of the plate that UP hammered out beyond the left field wall. Did strike out the third batter, though.

LMAO, the one good thing about ozone: listening to Jerry tear the homeplate umpire a new one during the breaks. It WAS a terrible strike 3 call.

1-1, bot 3. Pizza with a 2-out double, Jones with an RBI triple.

Jones has had a good start to the season. Is he a freshman?
