BYU suspends Brandon Davies for the season + .....

Post by uostudent »

For violating the honor code. This means no deep tournament run for BYU. Some BYU fans are speculating that he had sex with his girlfriend :o I would not be surprised if BYU kicks him out of school, like they did with their star running back earlier in the year.

I would love to see Oregon pick up Davies. Davies is a 6'9 235 PF. Solid defender, good offensive rebounder, solid footwork in the post. Davies had the highest GPA on the team last season. Coming out of high school, he had offers from Arizona, Cal, Gonzaga, Utah, and Utah St.

If/when he transfers, he will have to sit out a year, but would then have two years of eligibility.
“If everybody in this room just want to be real with themselves, this game could have went either way,” he said. “We turned the ball over a lot. We beat ourself. Just be real with yourself right now. We beat ourself.”

would oregon be a legitimate contender for him or is this pure speculation?

Speculation on my part. Altman could pull the big German's scholarship and give it to Davies.

Utah would probably be a natural fit for Davies, though I'm sure multiple teams will re-recruit if/when he is kicked out of school.

After a situation like this, Davies may want to leave the state of Utah (I realize that SLC is much more liberal than Provo).

More likely since they are the 2nd best team in the state, but the draw of a Pac-12 school could entice him.

Utah is not the 2nd best team in the state as USU is ranked higher and already beat the Utes by 17 earlier in the season.

Oh geez nevermind. I didn't see the "state" part & thought you were saying a pac-12 school would be more enticing than Utah. Actually I pretty much didn't even read USU's post. I don't recommend skimming & posting.

Utah St. is clearly the better program, but I've read some rumors that Rose may be headed to Utah after this season. Considering all of the restrictions at BYU, it would make a lot of sense. Utah has definitely had some prior success in basketball.

I figured that if Davies transfers (and wants to stay in state), he may want to play for Rose.

i dont think those rumors are true. i'm guessing rose gets a good paycheck at byu, and that'd be a d-bag move.

davies' recruiting basically came down to usu or byu. usu didn't have room for him really, and byu was more enticing than any other school. he might have picked byu straight up vs usu, i dont know, but it looks like he will be moving on to a new place, most likely.

Sounds like Davies could be staying after serving this suspension.

BYU looked significantly worse after Davies was suspended. Hopefully for their sake that they were just shell-shocked after losing an important player and that they can still win a few games in the tourney. By the way, I had no idea that they had an honor code like that, I guess they proved that no one is above their law..though having sex shouldn't be cause for a player to be suspended..

BYU has had their honor code for the longest time so it shouldn't have surprised him that he could get suspended. It may seem antiquated but it's their rules. One person that I'm surprised survived BYU is former Bears QB Jim McMahon since he was sort of wild back in the day.
