The Dirtbags are 3-5, but their 3 wins are over #7 Cal State Fullerton, #17 Arizona, and USC, so they can easily take this series from us if we're not careful.
Their Friday guy looks dominant. He lost to Fullerton 2-1, then beat Arizona 2-1. Both teams have nasty offenses, a lot better than our own.

This might seem a bit obtuse but mathematics don't lie in this scenario:
If it takes 40 wins to host a regional, you can lose no more than 20 of the 60 games the Ducks have scheduled;
we are already at 4 losses;
which means the Ducks would have to go undefeated the rest of the nonconference schedule and;
go no worse than 11-16 in the PAC-10.
Ergo, with each loss in the nonconference schedule (or even a rainout that can't be rescheduled), the league record minimum to reach the regional host status increases - our next nonconference loss or rainout will require the Ducks to finish no worse than 12-15 in the PAC-10.
The conclusion is obvious - we HAVE to get our offense going - NOW!!
GO DUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!

While it would be nice if Oregon hosted a regional, it's not going to be the end of the world if they don't. As long as they finish the season as a top-15 team, they be guaranteed a high seed in a regional, with a good chance at advancing.

40 wins is probably a low estimate to host a regional. 9 of the 16 hosts last year won 50 or more. RPI tends to be the benchmark for hosting, too, not a flat win mark.

Two straight innings of having the bases loaded and no runs shows the struggles Oregon is having at getting runs so far this season.
