2. Kingma is not on the team this year, thus asking who requires a double team this year has no relevancy. If Altman continues to bring in guys like Jabari Brown, we'll have a couple guys who opposing teams are going to want to pay extra attention to, making a specialist like Kingma invaluable.
+1
He's not even here yet. Let's give a chance. I'm sure Altman will build a team.
He I'm sure is very aware of his teams needs. With what he has already done
so far I'm not worried at all. But to question a player or put the knock on
him before he gets here because of a misconception of being a mid major player
is stupid. Look at Dunnigan, big press clippings, 5 star, decent big man but not
the 1 and done player they said he was. Some of that is Ernie's fault. I bet Altman
could have made him better in that offense.

I'm sure Altman would have done more with Dunigan than Kent; Altman actually knows how to implement an offense that incorporates a big man.duckfan22 wrote:2. I saw this highlight video posted on another forum and though Kingma clearly has things to work on, and I doubt the competition is the best, he clearly has a quick shot and appears to be working on finding the open teammate when the defense swarms to him. I don't know how he will adapt to college basketball, but I think that there is talent there and am willing to give it a chance to develop - not everyone can be an immediate impact player.

I still think he'll end up at Kansas. If Calipari makes it rain, maybe he'll end up at Kentucky. The only issue with Kentucky is that he'll be less likely to see significant minutes there. Wherever he ends up, he'll count against that team's 2010 class.DeAndre Daniels Could Enroll in January
PITTSBURGH — DeAndre Daniels is currently at Kentucky on his third official visit in the last week and could enroll in a college in January.
The 6-foot-9, 197-pound small forward from Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academies took recent officials to Kansas and Oregon. He is at Kentucky until Sunday.
“He made a commitment to come to us for an entire year because he knew he needed to get bigger, stronger and more competitive to be the type of player he wants to be on the Division 1 level,” Andy Borman of IMG said by phone.
“Because of his hard work and success in the last 3 ½ months, his dad [LaRon] and DeAndre and us are contemplating sending him somewhere at the semester.
“It’s not set in stone. We have sped up his recruiting process so that if he does find a home at the semester that he and his dad are very comfortable with, then he’s gonna go.”
In addition to the three aforementioned schools, Daniels is also considering Alabama, Texas, N.C. State, UCLA and Baylor. Daniels saw Kansas edge UCLA, 77-76, Dec. 2 and got a chance to see both teams at once.
“Those are the ones that have been around and been calling,” Borman said.
Borman said there is no leader at this point.
“As of now, there’s not, he said.
“If everybody in this room just want to be real with themselves, this game could have went either way,” he said. “We turned the ball over a lot. We beat ourself. Just be real with yourself right now. We beat ourself.”

I haven't looked at Kansas roster, but I doubt they give him the same opportunity to play early like we would. Hopefully he buys into whatever Jabari is selling him.

He looks like a 8th grader...... yes he has a quick shot, but that's the only positive I see. I certainly wouldn't want him bringing the ball up the court with that handle....distantobserver wrote:I saw this highlight video posted on another forum and though Kingma clearly has things to work on, and I doubt the competition is the best, he clearly has a quick shot and appears to be working on finding the open teammate when the defense swarms to him. And yet the dummies at Arizona State, Washington, Vanderbilt, Boston College and others all reportedly offered him a scholarship.Boom wrote:He looks like a 8th grader...... yes he has a quick shot, but that's the only positive I see. Kingma has excellent vision, and excellent shot, and he makes smart decisions. What more do you want from a PG? Obviously some good defense would be nice too, but I don't know much on that part of his game.

This only affirmed to me that he is going to do real well in the system that we've seen run so far.

After watching 3-4 years of Sim & Porter getting scorched by Pac 10 guards....... I'm a little more concerned about defense.UOducksTK1 wrote:Someone missed his 10+ assists that game...Boom wrote:He looks like a 8th grader...... yes he has a quick shot, but that's the only positive I see. I suppose, but neither of those guys can pass. Frankly, it'll finally be nice to have a PG who can actually pass and make smart decisions. I thought Armstead was going to be that guy, but he's been turning the ball over a lot this season.Boom wrote:After watching 3-4 years of Sim & Porter getting scorched by Pac 10 guards....... Ridnour wasn't known for defense, and Brooks isn't a very good defender himself. Both of them were pretty awesome PGs! Ridnour, becuase he was a great shooter and a great passer. Brooks because he was a really good shooter, and was incredible driving to the basket. A solid passer too.

Re: News on a 5* SF?
As far as the defense goes, this is where I go back to DA. He's done a good job switching between man/zone to confuse teams, and we're playing team basketball again. That is how great defense is played, as a team. Look at the Celtics with Ray Allen and Paul Pierce. Two weakest defenders in one on one, but in a good system they look like totally different defenders because everyone has bought in.
