Hard to follow any commits when I expect most of them to decommit. I want a coach so I can start getting excited for our future.
Recruiting is dead because there's technically none going on with no staff on the road visiting or working the phones/social media. Whoever they do hire is going to have to scramble to pull in in another 12-14 recruits to fill the class. It's not going to be pretty.
When there are no coaches who do the recruits contact if they have a question or something?
In a Nemec article today, LB Sampson Niu said he's been in contact with some current players to keep up-to-date. He's likely also in a groupchat with several of the other commits. Other than those, they're not getting any official word from the athletic department.
Maybe they're on here!!!

Great news, Taggart's mentor at Michigan was pushing for him so this is great to hear.

Temper your expectations.

This class is going to suck hard, unfortunately.

It will suck only because of the length of time it took to get a replacement with a class that wasn't great to begin with although I think he will be able to salvage the class and make it a class that could have been much worse, he should be able to keep most if not all of the current commits and possibly get Lenoir back and maybe even bring in some of the top USF commits. This was never going to be a top 15-20 class, will probably end up 25-30 now. Who knows but I am looking forward to the future. Can't dwell on what is know out of the control of the coaches hands, even Chip coming in wouldn't have all of a sudden lit the recruiting class ablaze. Blame Helf and company not Taggart.

Which is why keeping the guys who are still committed is super important.

Exactly. It will suck because the previous staff were average recruiters that weren't willing to put in the effort necessary to bring in top talent to a place like Oregon.

Current recruits and commits reaction to the news.

Popo Aumavae "I'm excited to meet my new head coach."

Thomas Graham Jr "I like that he's a winner. I am anxious to see who he hires for assistants."

Talanoa Hufanga "I think it's a great hire and he will do a great job."

Braden Lenzy "I don't know too much about him. But from what I've read this morning I like him a lot. I think he is a good fit for Oregon and I like him a lot."

Joe Tryon "I haven't heard much about him. But from what I've seen he is a good recruiter and he led USF to a 10-2 record which is great because it shows he can win games. I'm glad to see there will be a head coach there when I take my official in January."

Deommodore Lenoir "I can't wait to meet him. He seems cool and he loves to win and that's my mentality."

Nick Pickett "It's great for the program to have a guy like him that's able to go out and win."

Rutger Reitmaier "I'm excited about him coming to Oregon. I think he's a good fit for the job and I'm excited to play for him."

Jaylon Redd "I honestly have to do my homework on the coach and feel him out and see how it goes. I want to get to know him."

Cyrus Habibi-Likio "I think it's awesome. I heard he's Tony Dungy's guy and I've always been a big fan of Tony."

Marlon Tuipulotu "That's great for Oregon. I heard he did a great job at USF and I wish him the best of luck."

Alex Forsyth "I'm very excited! I know he's turned a lot of programs around brings a great energy. I'm anxious to meet him."

What are the chances we can bolster this class a bit by raiding the JC ranks? Do we have any JC recruits yet?
Willie Taggart is a dick.

I believe he offered mkitty to use

I'm less concerned by taggerts recruiting prowess and more concerned thst he has less than a week to keep the class together

He's actually got over a month and half. While it's a dead period, he can still contract recruits via email/phone/social media.

Have you ever tried to sell anything over the phone? It's really hard to do.

That's true. Telemarketing is not easy and an awful grind.

Luckily, this isn't just a random product being pitched, but a really great opportunity.
