Hard to follow any commits when I expect most of them to decommit. I want a coach so I can start getting excited for our future.
Recruiting is dead because there's technically none going on with no staff on the road visiting or working the phones/social media. Whoever they do hire is going to have to scramble to pull in in another 12-14 recruits to fill the class. It's not going to be pretty.
When there are no coaches who do the recruits contact if they have a question or something?
Jeff Hawkins comes to mind

That's true. Telemarketing is not easy and an awful grind.

Luckily, this isn't just a random product being pitched, but a really great opportunity.
My little brother is zillows top salesman and he gets it done that way. Creativity for Taggart is important right now to stand out.

Guys, Telemarketing is an over 100 BILLION dollar industry and it's NOT hard to do - as long as you're honest with people and have a quality product at a fair price. In this instance:

1. Product = Full Ride Athletic Scholarship (Fantastic Quality)

2. Cost = Keep Your Grades Up And Do As You're Told (Easy)

3. Honesty = I Hope The Coaches Are Honest. However, These Are RECRUITERS And, Unfortunately, Sometimes some "half truth's" Are Told. Just Like An Army Recruiter Does.

You can get a LOT accomplished by using the telephone. I've been doing it for years - honestly.

Also, to stay with the telemarketing theme, these aren't cold calls. These are pre-screened customers who are in the market for what you're selling. The dead period can be used to set up "sits" once the dead period is over.

From a poster on DT, it sounds like Taggart has already made contact with Redd, Graham, Lenoir, and Pickett. The first 3 seem locked in while Lenoir sounds close to coming back around. I wouldn't be surprised if his next stop after Hawaii is them and Rahyme Johnson. Taggart has really hit the ground running by himself so I bet he'll be glad to have some reinforcements once he gets a staff in place.

Pulling in those 5 would be an absolutely sick way to kick off recruiting season. Could definitely result in a better than anticipated recruiting class this year. Just need to get some big boys for the middle of the defensive line.

I was among those who was concerned this class would be terrible because of the lack of time to salvage it but I am starting to think it may end up better than it would have had Helfrich and staff been given another year.

A poster on 247 said Taggert talked to our Cali DBs and Pickett and Redd are still Ducks. He also said that Lenoir isn't going anywhere.

Looks like Taggart made contact with Reitmaier. Here's one quote that someone posted from DT's article about that phone call:
"He said I better be ready to take someone's job. He said he's only recruiting guys who are hungry and ready to work."

I love this guy, his aggressive attitude, his confidence, he is going to get this kids to play with attitude, to be tough, to be confident, to be leaders, he is also going to flip some kids and bring in some top guys and great overall recruiting classes. He is one guy right now blazing the recruiting trail right now, imagine when he has a team of coaches along with him. I can't be more excited for next season to be here already and see what he does with this team.

Status of current commits

I love Coach T's attitude and effort, but coffee is for closers. Otherwise any of us could fly around making offers and have the same outcome. Don't get me wrong, I want him to succeed beyond our wildest dreams, but he needs to close someone. Getting Lenoir back would be a massive start and might get some momentum for dominos to start falling.

I believe he could make a sales pitch to an Eskimo but I don't know if he could sell it yet. Has he swayed anyone yet? He sure isn't afraid to throw offers out there and I love the enthusiasm but let's see who he actually lands before we anoint him the greatest recruiter of all time.

Yea! He's been on the recruiting trail two whole days and on the job for three..... why's he loafing? Lol, wanting results in two days?

I was just thinking the same thing. I love what he's doing, but it's not like we haven't gone after high profile guys before. Offering and landing are two different things. My gut feeling is that he is going to close on more guys than we have in the past. But until he does that may just be my optimism talking. One thing we all need to be careful on: if he does miracles with this class great. But as hard as he is trying, this cycle is almost done. I'm just saying we need to not judge him too much on this class. We may be asking too much.
