This. It would be a fairly major story if Oregon finishes above Washington and close to Stanford/UCLA.greenyellow wrote:It's more about showcasing Oregon's likely rise up the overall team rankings than it is about the individual recruits they'd be getting.

Speaking of silent, Duke (Pickett's dad) refers to Lenoir as a Duck

Re: Silent Commits
3 star 4 star 5 star does it matter ? Patrick Chung was a 2 star Marcus was a 3 star
reverse Cam Colvin was a 5 star he never got to that status whereas the other two worked there way
up to the higher star after hard work.. These guys are being rated against what ever there leagues talent level is.
They are 18 years old and once they get to college its a whole new ball game. They were once stars on there team
now they will be another player until they show the college level coaching something...So dont be hard on this
group.. there may hopefully be a few Marcus Mariotas in this class....

Yes, it matters. Teams with better overall star ratings win more games than teams with lower talent levels. Yes, the system is not perfect but it still matters. You can't fill a roster with 2 and 3 star guys and pat yourself on the back thinking you have the next Mariota and Chung. Those are outliers, not the norm. You don't see Bama and Ohio State loading up on diamond in the rough guys.duckfan22 wrote:3 star 4 star 5 star does it matter ?

To a certain point i agree but Taggert has had no time at all. 5 stars and even 4 stars were not going to USF.karlhungis wrote:Yes, it matters. He has put together a staff that hopefully will bring in those higher rated kids.. This is not going to be a quick fix.

I agree. I'm glad he is finding bodies to fill the roster this year and really, given the limited time he has done a great job. I just get tired of the "Chung only had 2 stars" and "Mariota was only a 3 star" story line. I look forward to seeing what kind of a class we will have next year. I think it will be a very nice class.duckfan22 wrote:To a certain point i agree but Taggert has had no time at all. 5 stars and even 4 stars were not going to USF.karlhungis wrote:Yes, it matters. Yeah it's nice to find a few diamonds but look at the top 5 in recruiting each year and there's a pretty direct correlation with title contenders each year.

If true, which appears is likely, that's a helluva jump from what most of us were thinking a month ago!
This has got to be one of the hardest working recruiting staffs we've seen for quite a while!
I can't wait to see what they bring to the table for the long run!
Autzen Stadium... Where great teams go to die...Hard!
