Will the kicker they got going to be a punter or placekicker? If punter will he start right away?

I don't think we can really consider this the second best class in the Pac-12. Stanford's average recruit ranking is really, really, high compared to Oregon's, even if they didn't have the same volume of recruits.

I think you also forgot Forsyth. I've seen him play a lot. Very good. With the 1st year men on the OL last yr we should be developing a lot of depth there.DuckedOut wrote:I think Burmeister is going to surprise some people. Obviously, I don't think he'll beat out Herbert but I do think he's better than Jonsen and Wilson. He's a tough kid and a leader and he loves Oregon. The stats he put up speak for themselves, but he's got all the tools you want in a starting QB, especially in the Taggart system. Give him a year or two and he'll be in the conversation to start...hell, he'll be pushing people as soon as this spring IMO.ifuwant2 wrote:Honestly, don't know what to make of him. Killer high school stats. He's stuck behind a young qb and is going to have to fight off a highly ranked guy in 2018. I don't think he's an obvious major contributor as a starter. I think he's a gamer, and I'm glad we got him, but he's going to have to beat out some serious competition. There's only one quarterback. Here's hoping he's a great one. But I'm not sure how many fans would call him a no-brainer star. That's where I'm at.nogerO wrote:Did you forget about Burmeister?ifuwant2 wrote:I like everybody's grade of B-B+. When we hired Taggart, I expected our class to finish between 18-22. I was so anti-Helf that I believed there were kids who wanted to come to Oregon but he was scaring off. How true that really is can't really be known. After Taggart hired such a great staff, I kind of hoped he'd prove himself to be a miracle worker and we'd wind up in the top 15. Don't know how close we actually were on some of the names that could have got us there, but still we got a pretty deep class, and I'm happy enough. I think we got some solid guys on defense. Not quite elite at any position group, but close in the db spot, really solid linebackers, and some d-lineman that could really blossom. Would have liked an edge pass rusher.
Offense, love Verdell. Love Moore. Love Redd. But not a great offensive recruiting year for us.

Didn't forget him. Just not at the love stage until he proves it. I know he's going to be an awesome teammate, and a great leader. I believe he's at least going to be an important rotational guy and be a technician at his spot. I liked him better with Greatwood as a coach because Coach G. liked to move guys around and train them up at various positions. Don't know what Cristobal will do. If I had to pick a spot for him, I'd put him at center and get him ready to replace Hanson. I don't know how hard it is for a guy to adjust to center, but Forsyth seems like a natural.duck58 wrote:I think you also forgot Forsyth. I've seen him play a lot. Very good. I really thought they should have pursued Tyler Johnson harder.Phenom wrote:Eh. I think he only ran a 5.0 at 215 lbs. The next recruiting class should be very interesting to see.
We were clearly close with Falo but I imagine Reaves DUII didn't help us much there. I'm not as worried about the edge rusher on this. I think Moi, Hollins, etc. will easily fill that gap and didn't think a frosh would be a huge difference maker in 2017. This will likely hurt us in 2018 but let's hope that changes.
TE depth is a major concern. We have 2 legit TE's, we'll be converting Mattingly and will likely have to move someone else to TE for shear depth. However, if WT doesn't play double tights much than this isn't really as big of an issue.
Good class, but missing at TE isn't really acceptable. There were plenty of guys, including Moses Robinson who was committed.
Falo should have been the second TE, not the only option.
If they get a TE, even a low three star, I give the class an A-
Without TE, an essential need, I think we drop to B-
It's a fundamental issue.
Not worried about Artis, Falaniko or Thompson FWIW

I loved Johnson's tape. Too bad he had character concerns.

Very glad to see they still care about character to some degree. He did visit, though, so when did they do the vetting?

G-1.....my brother-in laws nephew is Sam Poutasi. His other nephew is former ND standout Ronnie Stanley, now the "blindside" LT for Joe Flaco at Baltimore.
