180-190 pounds as high school juniors translates well to a 210 pound college back.
I really like Austin Jones, but I think when all is said and done, it's going to be hard to recruit a kid who's coach is an all-time husky.

Nobody seems to struggle recruiting legacy ducks away from Oregon.StevensTechU wrote:180-190 pounds as high school juniors translates well to a 210 pound college back.

I think so much of recruiting is picking your battles well. I didn't like the way Cristobal did that in January, making offers to guys who were all but signed to other schools. Hopefully he can take a step back and be more calculated about it in a full cycle.

For what it's worth, Jones really likes Oregon and came on an unofficial visit during the fall.
We'll get a pretty good idea on who the staff is targeting soon.

All we got to do is start winning again and then recruiting will get better and we ll b able to close better. It will be though to win this year with our depth issues at certain positions and not being close to 85 scholarship players.karlhungis wrote:Nobody seems to struggle recruiting legacy ducks away from Oregon.StevensTechU wrote:180-190 pounds as high school juniors translates well to a 210 pound college back.

One thing that could work in our favor is that UW already picked up a RB in the class and he's pretty good. Plus NorCal is Mastro's region of expertise.StevensTechU wrote:180-190 pounds as high school juniors translates well to a 210 pound college back.

Yea, I saw that and it gives me an ounce of hope. However, I still easily imagine the coach guiding toward anything not-Oregon even if it doesn't mean uw.Phenom wrote:One thing that could work in our favor is that UW already picked up a RB in the class and he's pretty good. Just saying not all coaches steer their kids towards their alma mater or away from their rivals.StevensTechU wrote:Cool?Juice wrote:Jevon Holland disagrees with youStevensTechU wrote:Yea, I saw that and it gives me an ounce of hope. Re: Big RB prospects...
I pretty badly want you to be right. And the fact that uw didn't wait to offer other RBs gives an indication that he may be headed elsewhere.
