I think you'll see a massive improvement next year. Why? Because we're going to have depth at LB and a legit pass rush. This year was Hollins only. Next year, we have LB depth and top end talent coming. (DJ Johnson, KT etc) . These guys are special and the DBs will need man cover for less time.

He's pretty slow and kind of between LB and SFlDuckFan wrote:What's wrong with Breeze?StevensTechU wrote:There are numbers, but they aren't quality numbers. Besides Holland, none of the other guys would sniff playing time on any of the ducks teams of the past 20 years, save for Stephens, whom it's fair to say the jury is out on at this point.Phalanx wrote:Seems like there is pretty good depth at safety. Stevens, Holland, and Bridges to go with Pickett, Breeze, and Gibson. I would have thought they needed a corner.

Re: How do the ducks finish?
Breeze, Gibson, and Pickett are slight variations of the same player- nice in run support but can’t cover PAC-12 receivers. Boyett was great in run support but also ran a 4.4 and had 9 interceptions in his first three seasons. *Breeze and Pickett each have 1 INT in two seasons of play, Gibson none, and none of these safeties are among the fastest players on the team.
I’m not picking on them, I’m just saying that this is a position where Oregon could use an upgrade.

They're all a bit one dimensional. Good in base d, liabilities on passing downsStevensTechU wrote:Breeze, Gibson, and Pickett are slight variations of the same player- nice in run support but can’t cover PAC-12 receivers. I see guys' level of expectations rising based on the early signing period. Just keep them tempered, ya'll. The average signee in the early signing period was a low 4* rating (.9097 on 247Sports). Don't go thinking that the late period is just going to be nothing but 5 star players because "the staff can focus on a few guys." Every school in the country is in the same boat.

I think the optimism most are feeling stems from the fact that this staff just brought in this current class with no signs of slowing down in the future. While I expect to get a few others to add in February, its that 2020 class I'm starting to get excited about, especially with DJ U having been here so many times already.StevensTechU wrote:I see guys' level of expectations rising based on the early signing period. The late signing period is as much about finding those guys who came on strong as seniors and haven't been uncovered yet as it is about trying to land those big names, IMO.

Re: How do the ducks finish?
Agreed. It's about trying to find hidden gems like Jordon Scott while trying to get maybe one or two big names left on the board. Also, as Cristobal said in his press conference, this will be the first time the staff can use January and February to focus on future classes without having to worry about filling out/maintaining the majority of the current class.StevensTechU wrote:The late signing period is as much about finding those guys who came on strong as seniors and haven't been uncovered yet as it is about trying to land those big names, IMO.

Agreed. There are many players who come out of nowhere to become dominant high school players in their Senior years. The process of getting to know guys you hadn't paid attention to until a month or two ago fits into the late signing period.StevensTechU wrote:The late signing period is as much about finding those guys who came on strong as seniors and haven't been uncovered yet as it is about trying to land those big names, IMO.
Not that he is or could be an Oregon target, but as an example of late development, the Lake Oswego QB is one who went from a Junior backup to 1st team all state over a Penn State bound 4 star.

Longshot at best. It's between USC and Texas for him.DmoneyDuck wrote:Any word or chance with Bru McCoy?
